Please use the new thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=887469.

CAUTION !!!
- USE THIS TOOL AT YOUR OWN RISK !!
- Overclocking your cpu may damage your device.
- Before autostarting the app be sure that your device will not hang.
- backup is always recommended !!
DESCRIPTION :
WiMoSpeed lets you change the CPU-speed. In opposite to other tools, even to the predecessor OverClockTool (OCT), it manipulates the values WM uses for clock control. So it works reliable on battery and AC without any scripting or active components.
USAGE :
- Download and install the CAB
- Start WiMoSpeed.exe. If it reports that it cannot identify your ROM: post here
- Select Speed
- Set Speed
- If desired create link (in installation directory) with actual settings
- Exit WiMoSpeed.exe
TECHNIQUE
Basically WiMoSpeed is hardware-independent, because it lets WM change clock speed. But I couldn't get WM to switch the clock reliable on request so WiMoSpeed had to switch the clock registers itself on setting a new speed.
Therefore WiMoSpeed depends on CPU-hardware, RADIO- and OS-ROM.

Raising or lowering cpu speed didn't change battery drain or device temperature noticeable. So there isn't dynamic clocking in WiMoSpeed, but WM is still controlling and changing cpu-speed on battery.
LIMITATIONS
WiMoSpeed supports Qualcomm MSM7200 (and compatible) and is limited to Rhodium and RhodiumW ROMs by now.

I took all shipped roms I could get and included the information into WiMoSpeed.

!!! If WiMoSpeed could not identify your ROM please post here what part of your ROM WiMoSpeed couldn't identify (OEMXIP and / or RADIO-ROM) and include a download-link of your ROM (OS, RADIO) !!! Thank you.

I will include Topaz ROMs next.
thanks to
-all donators for the support
-eboelzner for Sense UI SDK
-dmvandijk for the icon
-the internet ;)
Please do not mirror WiMoSpeed !

Version 1.01
- added support for more OS-ROMs
- added support for more radio-ROM
- new function: restore default speed (528 MHz)

Version 1.00
- Initial release
- Rhodium, RhodiumW

On the web
Just installed it on my Tilt2. I was able to get to 768 MHz (up from 748 MHz I reached with OCT 1.5). Beyond 768 MHz it froze immediately. I will continue testing and post here any issues.

Looks great so far, and thank you for your hard work!

UPDATE: Stepping down to 748 MHz as Sense just froze while switching from the People tab to Home, when using 768 MHz.

Great app iwfratz!!

Downloaded and installed on my Tilt 2 running "Energy.RHODIUM.28244.Sense2.5.Cookie.2.0.Nov.13". I am able to over clock to 787.2 MHz (where I could only get 768.0 with OCT). Running good so far; have not had any bad side effects yet (scrolling through Sense tabs; made phone call; started web browser; read e-mail).

Looks to be a WINNIER!!

Here is a token of my appreciation...

WiMoSpeed rocks!

Thanks for all your hard work, iwfratz. You rocked the house with OCT v1.5, and now you follow up with your magnum opus! :D

This works very well on my Stock VzW 6.5 rom. I was able to step it up a notch or 2 in speed from my OCT v1.5 settings. I am standing pat at 748.8 for now, mainly because I don't want to get too greedy and SOD it all up!

Does not work with the ROM / Radio combo I'm running. The error indicates it doesn't recognize the radio but I've included both links below:

Mr. X's version of Verizon MR2 ROM:
http://www.mightyrom.com/2010/06/18/verizons-new-mr2-touch-pro-2-rom-and-the-lockunlock-dance/

Verizon MR3 2.37 Radio:

Just tried OCT for the first time a few days ago - saw slight but noticable speed improvement with it. Looking forward to trying this out - looks like it's even better!

Hi iwfratz;

Glad to see you are still working on this!

Did you ever find out why OCT1.5 would not remove properly? I would prefer to remove it "correctly" rather than use a 3rd party tool or go digging around the registry for leftover pieces.

Thanks!

Hey many thanks for the new update. However, I used to switch between WinMo and Android quite often and, as you probably know, you need to turn off overclocking to switch.

So I was wondering if there is a quick way or a shortcut to turn the overclocking off when need be? I've tried making a shortcut to switch to 518mhz before attempting android, but that doesn't work. I'd hate to have to switch back to the old version (oct 1.5) as I really like this new one. But unfortunately, this issue is a deal breaker for me

oh ok thanks for the info but why would anyone need to reset to the default speed 528MHz ?

it was a user request, see following quote.

OCT 1.5 has always worked fine for me and does the dynamic underclocking as well. Not to mention the "on/off" button for Android users. So why the new update?

Read post #1. OCT is a device driver and is running all the time to prevent that WM gets problem with the changed cpu-speed. But there are some situations it cant handle (see next quote). WiMoSpeed is passive, it changes the values WM uses for clock control. So even the last problems are / should be solved.

I have an EU stock 6.1 Rom in my Phone. Will check this out later. I stopped using other over clockers as I found no matter what setting I used, as long as they were active, Nitrogen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3914093 ), the homebrew mp3 play would hang part way through songs. As I said I will install this later and let you know my Rom/Radio combination and let you know my finding. Either way thanks for all the work, nice to see older windows mobiles are still cared for.

The problem with Nitrogen leads to WiMoSpeed and is solved.

Why don't you update your phone to HTC Rhodium instead so you could use this app & this thread?

Yeah, this is a good one. Thanks.

Oooh, thank you. This is a link to the thread for my application WiMoSpeed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=874074
