also my other question sorry if it sounds stupid and its been said a million times already but there are far too many pages to read through but has the new version been released to be able to unroot it if ever you need to???

thanks for reading and thanks in advance for anyone who can give me any info on this it will be greatly appreciated :)

No idea about that, sorry.

Yes, the current (and also deprecated as stated by Rooster on the previous page - read his post) version, is able to unroot the phone, at least there is the option to do it ;) Never tried it though, so maybe it's just a button that looks useful ;)

thanks for reading and thanks in advance for anyone who can give me any info on this it will be greatly appreciated :)

You're welcome :)

I'm sure someone more enlightened in the ways of Android might say: "and it was right to do so" as rooting the phone requires a point of entry and that is exactly an exploit. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Windows (M$ Security Essentials?) shouldn't be worried however, unless you try to root your Desktop (there are ways to do it) :)

not working on Galaxy S

I have enabled the USB debugging but Z4root keeps hanging and does not do anything. It gets stuck at "attempting to root" stage.

Galaxy S
Firmware : 2.2.1
Kernel ver: 2.6.32.9
[email protected] #1
Build Number :FROYO.XXJPY

please advise !!

Froyo is a bit of a pain to root! Well, this fixes that.

    What this does

It is an app you install from the market or by side loading, that has a single button that will root your device.

    How safe is this?

Should be 100% safe - nothing on disk is changed besides the root binaries, so if something goes wrong, simply rebooting the device should fix up any and all issues. Let me know if you find any bugs!

The new temporary root option works on 99% of available Android devices - no list yet of which specific devices are incompatible with the temporary root option - I am still trying to find out.

Here is the list so far of known compatible and incompatible devices for the permanent root option. I haven't actually tested these myself - I only have a Galaxy S device - but this list has been created by reports from users.

    Compatible with PERMANENT root option

    Samsung Galaxy S (All variants)
    Backflip
    Sony X10
    Xperia Mini
    Droid 2
