I havae 2 s3's currently on stock 4.4.2 and for the life of me I cant get TWRP to stick via Odin. As soon as it reboots and I reboot back to recovery, its back to the stock recovery. Im using samsung tool kit and Odin together. I cant get either phone to stick to TWRP.

You have to boot directly to recovery after flash. If you boot sytem, it will over write with stock recovery. After odin completes, pull the battery. Then boot to recovery, power+home+volume up. Twrp fixes it so it won't re write stock recovery.

Ok. I will try pulling the battery. The rom I want recommend Philz so I will try that 1 next.

Anyone know how to repair a charging port?

Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Free mobile app

Any rom recommending philz is waaaay outdated. Twrp will work much, much better.
Well my test s3 decided not to work on the charger port anymore. So 1/2 through Odin it stopped making contact. Now when I power it on I get "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.. So now I have to get the port fixed before I can do anything else.

Well Im not sure whats going on with this phone. I got the charger port fixed today. Now when I odin TWRP and reboot into TWRP the first time, So I can sideload supersuer or install the permanent recovery fix. There are no files. All you see are folders and nothing inside of them. Even the folders I see on my computer, I dont see in TWRP... So Im at a total loss... After I reboot to android and then try to boot back to TWRP, its back to stock recovery again...

EDIT:: I just tried Philz recovery and it worked like a charm... I even made a back up of my stock ROM..

EDIT#2:: Everything went great... Im now running Wicked X on my test phone...

You need the latest twrp ,2.8.7.0 or 2.8.7.1. Also if you are on virgin or boost and can't get twrp to mount data, lrs121 has a twrp that is built specifically for vm/boost.

twrp for virgin and boost s3

And are you checking internal or external storage in twrp?
(Philz is dead and isn't recommended on any newer roms) fine on wicked though, that's pretty old.

It's not that old [emoji13] ... it is the latest updated TW ROM even though I've had another phone for a year now.

Didn't mean for it sound like a knock, I used it for a long time. I just meant its from around the same time as philz. Wicked is tops. I wish this phone would have gotten lollipop officially, so we could have lollipop tw roms. Your work has me eyeing the s4 as my next move.

can I use TWRP install manager app if I have philz installed now ? also, I use the d2spr with my Virgin Mobile S3 correct ?

Tapped in from my Wicked S3
That app is trash. Download the image file right from twrp site, then install with flashify (play store app)
Yes to d2spr. Or use the one lrs121 built just for virgin and boost.

Hi guys need help... I've changed the entire font on my SM-N910H using "Font Installer". Since then I'm unable to use any emoticons app. They all show as little boxes. How do I fix this as I don't know which fonts associated with that particular apk. Hope I make sense, thanks in advance.

Hello you wonderful people. I've been looking all over for how to upgrade a Straight Talk Samsung Galaxy SIII SCH-S960L to KitKat 4.4 (or better) from 4.1.2. Even here I've not found much. I don't know anything really about rooting and flashing phones, though I am familiar with updating firmware on other things. As I understand it, I need a new ROM for this phone, and nobody has one. Is that right? I've also seen that I can use a basic Sprint ROM for a similar phone and change some settings, but I can't seem to find more than that. Once I find out it's possible to do, I don't mind digging further into how it's actually done. Can anyone point me in the right direction or give me the best idea on what to do?

Yes you probably do have to flash if the official update isnt there. Start with Odin, maybe? Odin is a rooting tool for all Samsung devices. I'm a bit of a newb too on flashing
