I fell for the marketing and traded in my Galaxy S20fe for a pixel 7.

Worst. Phone. EVER.

I hate their Android implemention. It's far LESS customizable than a Samsung, which is shocking. The fingerprint sensor is trash.

I'll be trading it in the first time a good offer comes along, and I'll never buy another Pixel phone. It's basically Google's flavor of an iphone, but not even close to as good as an iphone.

You completely miss the intention of the Pixel phones. They are to showcase Google's software (which they do very well). They aren't for everyone. They are a no bells and whistles type of phone. Samsung phones are aimed at the general public, and try to be an all-in-one phone. That's the great thing about Android. Many manufactures to choose from. Each with their own take on what a phone should be. Sorry you don't appreciate it for what it is.

I understand the point. The problem is that Google does a **** job of providing OPTIONS. I don't buy Android phones to get a worse version of the iphone experience.

All that aside, three fingerprint sensor issue STILL makes the device miserable to use. Google obviously doesn't give a damn about quality control.

Google Pixel 7
I accidentelly destroyed my P6, and the price dropped on the P7 so I ordered one on Amazon. Got it the next morning. Swapped SIMs and ready to go. I've got to say, I really can't tell the differance between the 6 and 7. Fingerprint sensor is marginally better, still doesn't work with dry skin. I wouldn't recommend upgrading from a 6 to a 7 unless you've got cash to burn. I like the 7, but I liked the 6 too.

I moved from s21fe because I want updates as on iPhone. Asap. Except that I wouldn't change (and my gf could take it from carrier for €225).
It's good phone but fingerprint. Omg. It's really bad. Really, really bad.

I also come from an s21 fe which had a sim support hardware problem.
in possession of the pixel 7 for 1 month, I admit not to be disappointed.
the battery scared me at first but everything is fine now.
for the fingerprint, it must be set up in a well-lit place.
note that the last update improves things a lot.

I despised Nexus and Pixel phones since the beginning. But now they caught my attention being super high on Dxomark chart (both camera and display). And the smart features.

So here I am, found another home brand.

Fingerprint is OK, pretty fast, but you will do bit mistakes as nothing compares to physical fingerprint.

What I like battery is fat. Stays charged until next day evening, with 4hours SOT. All despite its constant listening to events, "hey google", 24/7 song identification, sleep noise recording, and all classic wakelocks on, and BT devices connected nonstop. Pure standby is 2 days, but this could double if i turned off all those background features.

What I tolly love is it ain't killing apps (despite above paragraph). Suddenly the absolutely horrendous frustrations are gone. No longer blocked VPN, unreachable Signal, and dead MI Home notifications. Lot of functionality is recovered. Therefore, I will be switching other Samsungs to Google. Just to make phones WORK.

Productivity is the reason i can't go with blank firmware like Sony or OnePlus. Here on Pixel there are lot of extras, maybe not as much as on OneUI, but it's solid. The text extraction everywhere is excellent. Quick phrases are promising (but not reliable!!). The list goes on. Basic apps are solid. No bloatware! My routine of writing customized startup script to debloat is gone.

Speed is good. We know GFX is on par with flagships and CPU is not. Since smart features are somehow accelerated many apps feel very fast, but some classic apps which do a lot of processing will be slower (Bitwarden, email etc).

Display is strong, zero backbleeding on low brightness. No brain piercing PWM blinking like on Samsungs. Readability is not as good as on Samsung, of course it won't push perfect brightness at dark or sunlight. Weird fonts don't help it either. But it's not mediocre like on Sony or earlier OnePluses.

Camera is good, brings way more light in dark scenes as opposed to Samsungs. Bokeh is also less crap (tho generally no bokeh is good if you view pictures on PC). I strictly like real face colors.

What I miss about the phone is some visible wow factor. Like the ability to fold or pop up camera or bring old features everyone wants "sd card / jack / notiflight / no-notch":) Ability to crack the camera glass doesn't count!

Do you want the hot girl that is just T&A - or do you want the cute girl with a brain that you can settle down with?
That's the Pixel choice in a nutshell ;)
*I always choose the cute girl. Less hassle, more fun.

Let's see how much they will cost here in Germany. Maybe I'll gift one to myself for christmas. But I'll wait... not gonna preorder again. I've learned.

Well, f* me... I ordered one. Obsidian, 256GB, original Google charger (780€ all in). Gonna get the black Pixel Buds Pro for free, will sell them for like 150€. Gonna sell my Realme GT2 Pro for like 420€ I guess. Thinking of vanilla Android and the Pixel camera made me ordering it. I hope I won't regret. I learned nothing lol.

Are you willing to spend as much or a little more on the new Google Pixel 7, which seems to be an excellent smartphone?

They always seem to be an excellent smartphone on paper but disappointing in reality.

Last year I preordered a Pixel 6. I was so hyped. New design, new SoC, stock Android, great camera. And then I got the device and there was problems with the screen, I had the accessibility service freeze bug and Google did nothing to fix it for months. I sent the device to RMA 2 times. Updates were delayed, more bugs came. It was a mess so I sold the device and made financial loss.

I dislike the fact that they made the display for the Pixel 7 smaller than the one of the Pixel 6, and I dislike curved edges on the pro version. Curved display edges are a stupid useless feature - it's no good for haptics and IMO it's marketing crap plus good screen protectors are either hard to find or expensive for them.

So maybe I'm gonna buy a Pixel 7. Maybe not. Right now I got a Realme GT 2 Pro and it's like the OnePlus device I always wanted, but the camera is not that good and it's missing the alert slider. BBK Electronics is not really cool and what they done to OnePlus and Oxygen OS is bad. Having a Pixel with Vanilla Android again would be nice. And the cameras are always very good on Pixels. I love that.

Thanks for the response! I too saw some reviews and the phone is less than the flagships of 2022 but I like the looks and I'm pretty much satisfied with this performance! iPhone nailed their specs and performance but I don't like their old looks so I'm going with the Pixel 7...
Indeed. I am trading in my old 12 Pro Max for a 7 Pro today myself lol.
