So I took the time to reset the phone last night and only restored contacts. When I set FP this time I uped screen sensitivity (and left it there) followed directions exactly, and I have yet to have the phone not open the first try. About the only disappointment left is charging. That, it seems, I'll just have to deal with.
If it's charging at roughly 2%@minute between 40-70%, you're good to go.
If charging slow make sure the battery start temperature is 82-90F. Below 70F fast charging may not engage in order protect the battery.
After about 80% fast charging ramps down and disengages entirely around 90%.
If the battery gets too hot fast (about 102F) fast charging will disengage.
Never charge with screen on as it will skew the charge curve.
Never attempt to charge below 40F!

If still not fast charging try toggling fast charging on/off 3 times. Clear system cache.
Use a known good fast charger and cable.
If any of the protocols or charging parameters aren't meet, fast charging will not engage to protect the battery.

I'm thinking of going from the 6 to a standard S21 (not plus or pro) . How's the battery on the S21 compared to the 6 ? or the Camera?
I have had S21. Very important is Snapdragon or Exynos. In EU we have only Exynos and it is a crap. Battery drain, overheating, good camera but only in good conditions. In zoom images P6 is definitely better. Ui is laggy like a years ago. Even my Pixel 4 is better in almost every aspect. No need even to compare with Pixel 6.

Thanks ! That's very helpful. I'm in the UK so it'd be the exynos.I think i've dismissed the 21 now, so if my 6 goes back in the next few days, it'll be to wait for the S22 release. But honestly, whilst the 6 has its faults with certain aspects of the camera (zoom, macro), i'm kinda getting to like it now.

After 1 week using it I sold mine & returned to my OnePlus 7 Pro. I found out that the small customizations offered by non-Pixel phones are really worth it. Simple things like double tap to sleep, having the unlock screen show both pin & fingerprint at the same time, the ugly Google Search Bar, the easy way to switch to mute other than flipping the phone, etc. I found my self trying to get third party apps and launcher to get the little things I am used to until I decided that what extra things the Pixel offers are not worth it for me. Also OnePlus' Alert Slider makes it too convenient to go without it.

I'm still on the fence - I got a deal on a sorta seafoam 6 and initial thoughts are that it's really nice handset. Personally I quite like the size and feel... first few hours or so with the fingerprint for me and it doesn't seem as bad as a lot are saying... maybe the odd failure for me but not enough for me to be that bothered.

I think my main reason for not keeping is that coming from the Pixel 4a 5g I just don't think it offers enough over and above that device... and also the 4a 5g has the added benefit of still having unlimited storage on google photos.

It's a great device but at the moment I feel I'm leaning more towards returning or selling on.

Decided today to return mine. Major network issues, support has been no help, and it doesn't seem like it will be resolvable. In my situation, when the device is in SA 5G, it occasionally drops internet access entirely, requiring either changing the network type in the secret menu or a reboot. I can force LTE only, but then I will be stuck with LTE. My OP8 didn't have this issue since I was running a custom ROM, and custom ROMs still do not support T-Mobile's SA 5G. I plan on stopping by a store tomorrow and buyers' remorse it. I may end up picking up a OP9, but still on the fence. I really, REALLY want to keep this phone, but the inconsistent network connectivity, and the fact I HAVE to rely on it for work, sort of has me stuck.

I just boxed mine up to send back. If I made a call, after about 10 minutes, the connection would go in and out. It didn't drop the call, but I could only hear about every other word, and the same for the person on the other end. It showed that I had a good lte signal, so not really sure what the problem was. Tried switching to bluetooth, speaker, nothing helped. In order to get the full refund, I have to return the free pixel A earbuds also, in a separate box. Just to let others know, that they don't let you keep them, without charging you $100

I guess I returned mine fast enough...never did get the earbuds. Hopefully they never show up so I don't have to deal with that as well.

If you don't update/upgrade them they run just as faster or faster (due to optimizing) then the day you bought it. Case in point; this N10+ running on Pie is over 2.5 yo, current load will be 2 yo in June and it runs great. Security is not an issue.

Rule #1- if an OS is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission, let it be!

Okay, what kind of mods can you do on an iPhone?

Is the price worth it at twice the price of a P6?

Can you run a custom kernel on an iPhone?
More important is to have a functional device without any mods. I don't have mods on my pixel and I didn't had them on my last Samsung device. Years back I flashed every phone I got butt hat time is over. All I want is to buy a phone use it without stuttering and be happy for 3+ years.

That can't be the point. If the phone sucks after updating I will choose another Brand especially when it happens over and over again like in my case. But damn the pixel6 is full of bugs and the software is so f.. horrible.

Yeah that is the point. You however can do what you want...
No updates, no problems as long as you watch what you install and download. Phones don't just slow down for no reason.

I have both. The S21 snapdragon battery life isn't great. It's a day of battery and that's it. My pixel 6 can definitely make it to two
i have an s22 and the battery life, compared to the pixel is awful...its not even comparable. TBH i hate the s22, The pixel however is awesome. the only gripe i have is that samsung fast bricks dont fast charge it..that and the size is a little overkill esp with a case

Keeping it. Don't understand why people would be disappointed.

To be fair though, in screen fingerprint readers have been notoriously finicky at launch for most phones.
False. I'm going based off experiences with other scanners I've used in the past. I've had the Oneplus 6T, amongst other 1st generation optic scanners they worked better out the box unlike the P6. I like the phone don't get me wrong but people need to stop making excuses for this fingerprint scanner. It performs poorly or not at all.

I don't get all the complaints. Compared to any of the previous Pixels, this is leaps and bounds ahead of them all. I hated the fingerprint scanner on the back so I'm really happy it's on the front now. Is it the fastest of any phone? Certainly not. Is it terrible? Not for me. It works perfectly fine, even with my Amazon glass screen protector.

Battery life so far seems pretty great too. I get 5h SOT with 50% battery left. Sound is some of the best I've seen. A million times better than the crappy under display speaker of the Pixel 5, which is why I got rid of it.

Then there's the size. This is the thing I love the most. I have long grown tired of the massive 'flagship' phones of recent times, and the Pixel 6, for me, is the perfect size.

I really have nothing to complain about and will be sticking with it for some time.

Sadly I might not. I have until the 11th to initiate a return. If nothing changes with the fingerprint scanner it's going back to Google.

Thats another point I don't like, the capacitive on the back was perfect, even with the swipe gesture.. the one on the front is just anonyin with this footprint.
