Aria Audio Questions

So I'm waffling back and forth between the Aria and the Captivate and I have a couple of questions regarding audio on the Aria, specifically the output jack.

Yesterday after work, I sauntered over to the ATT store with my iPod Nano earbuds to test the audio on the phone, because I'd like to use my next phone as my primary audio device as well.

I fired up the Radio app (not ATT Radio) and it picked up some local radio stations, but the volume was entirely too low. I cranked the volume up to 100% but with little effect.

To rule out a radio reception problem, I loaded the YouTube app and loaded a random video and again the volume wasn't very discernible.

So with that background, has anyone else experienced this problem or any other problems (aside from static)? Would the Aria be a good replacement for a 1st Gen iPod Nano? Was ATT's demo unit not a good indication of actual audio capability?

I use the Aria to listen to fm radio, Pandora internet radio, and mp3s and have the volume about half way up. And I'm hard of hearing. Works good for me.

using ipod nano ear buds to test audio? Are you serious  are you trying to listen to the music or just hear it?

FWIW i use my Aria as my music device and use decent headphones "Philips SHS5200" and even in the noisy NYC subway having the volume on max its too much. I keep the volume 3 slots below the max and its fine.

I use mine daily in the car as a replacement for my iPod Touch for mp3s, and use it with skullcandy smokin buds and skull candy skullcrushers with no problems, volume is somewhere between 8-12 (lower end being the buds) majority of the time.

i use my aria as an mp3/radio player quite frequently. in the car, while mowing the lawn, casually around the house while cleaning, and haven't had any volume complaints.

Thanks for the responses guys.

@Thundervore - Yes, I am serious. That's all I have and that's all I've needed since I bought a first-gen Nano five years ago. If I get the Aria, I'll either use the stock earbuds or buy something better.
