Interesting finding. I'm on 9.2 and v4a wasn't processing on headphones. I had checked v4a storage permission and was there. I decided to deny storage so shows no permission, and v4a started processing! Bass is back. I have Dolby installed, but it's not processing, but to my ears, not needed now.

Edit: I removed storage permission from Dolby service and it now works.

Edit2: well, as soon as I unplug headphone and plug back in I get no processing. Then adding storage permission starts it up, but stops on next unplug, then removing storage permission starts it up. How to get it to stick?

Yes, I did mean storage permissions for V4A

Tried both these steps to no avail... Back on Lev 1.3 until another time (out of troubleshooting time for now)

On .9 I didn't have to, but with .9.2 I flashed the N Permissive Fix. I had it left over from previous Arise projects. I uninstalled the /system/priv-app Viper4Arise and installed an extracted copy. I don't know if this step is necessary but that was the only way I could use many of my IRS files from .9. I also installed the .zip that is floating around with a flashable v4a driver, which also might not be necessary. Now the driver is installed and it survives a reboot.

Currently on Lev 1.3 as Numbers was giving me grief...


Is there any fix?


The fix on another thread suggested moving the apk to data before copying the IRS files and then moving it back to priv-app. Not sure where in data (i am not a dev.) but some attempts inside dif folders did not work.

Try re-installing v4a as a user app mate that used to fix that issue.

I just navigated to /system/priv-app and click viper to install the update and as a user app as well. reboot and they all process

I'm currently on M, so I never thought about the N permissive fix... And I'll have to look for that flashable driver zip... Forgot all about it since I never had this problem before

Since installing as a user app instead of system worked for me it doesn't really matter. But when I have this problem it isn't because they are in the wrong spot. I made sure of that. I even wiped all information on any location on my phone that had anything to do with v4a. Then saved a profile, then moved files to that location. Rebooted, all that stuff. The only thing I have found that works is installing as a user app. I'm not sure if this is because I'm on the 6p N developer preview or what.

It happens on Leviticus and Numbers. Doesn't happen on Exodus.

I found a pretty easy fix for me anyway with the IRS not processing....... If you use the /system/priv-app viper from the ahrion SE exodus or an older version that has the Libs folder with viper then just delete the one installed by numbers and manually move this one to /system/priv-app, set permissions and reboot, I did not have to install and update to user app then and all IRS processing

I just did some experimenting and all need to do is move the libs from an old exodus zip that is with viper system folder to the one created by numbers. Must be something with the libs to allow all URS processing without updating to a user app

For any of you who saw my "I'll just leave this here" post with my alpha setprop, I understand that it was nonfunctional. I'd left the shell command off the top. Here is my beta setprop. To test, rename and place in /sdcard as arisesound_setprop to result in /sdcard/arisesound_setprop, then flash Numbers 0.92. That file with that name in that location should override the settings applied as installed in /system/su.d/arisesound_setprop.

Hope this helps. I'll be testing it myself further and looking forward to any feedback. :good:
