You have to be rooted right to install a custom ROM?
Nope, unlock your bootloader (developer options, enable OEM unlocking, add your account to the bit in the associated account thingy, forgot the exact name), then try to unlock with MiFlashUnlocker, wait the 168 hours, then unlock, boot into fastboot, download OrangeFox (my personal recommendation), if its in your download folder go to cmd and type cd c:\users\username\downloads\folder its in if any.

Then type fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img
    fastboot reboot
then hold the power and volume up keys and you would have rebooted into recovery.
Your internal storage will be encrypted which is normal.
Download a ROM and place it on your external SD card, go to wipe then click format data, type yes and reboot to recovery. Then click on your sd card and find the zip file, simply flash and you're all done :)

:( Hope so. For now if BT Audio is a concern for you, I'd flash pixel experience or crDroid, the latter being my favourite from those 2
Yes i tried crdroid too but there is a bug with clock it's keep crashing and can't set alarm too .
Flashed stock miui again and it's draining my battery like hell.

aaah I entered a bootloop with the clock app too, thought it was just me... Did you flash GApps and if so what variant? i.e. did it overwrite the AOSP clock app with the Google clock app?

I had the same problem with my car. The bluetooth was well connected but no sound. I went to the developer options and chose the SBC bluetooth codecs. Everything is back in order.

I have not yet encountered any other problem on this ROM which I find very fluid and the battery holds up well (SOT 8h45)

      Sorry for my poor english
