Hello all, I'm having a bit of an issue. I am currently working with a Trio Stealth G4 10.1 v2. It is currently rooted via kingo root (double checked the root via a separate checker), and I am in the process of trying to install TWRP. It is running KitKat 4.4.2, and I am not able to have the device show up on my computer. I initially attempted to flash TWRP with the recommended app Flashify for root users, but that app seems to not be operational anymore. At that point i discovered the TWRP manager made by Team Win, the same people who make TWRP, which at the very least lets me navigate and initiate a stock recovery back up. This is where the problems begin.

The tablet is freshly factory reset, and only has ~1GB of files total on internal storage. Despite this, when I begin to back up, the img file being created is several times the size. I initially tried to save it to an 8GB microSD inserted in the device, and it gave me a 2GB file before returning to the manager's main screen. Not being able to find any reference for what size this file should be, I moved the img to my computer and inserted a different, 32GB, microSD. I initiated another recovery, and now i have a 4GB img file and TWRP manager gives me a screen saying the back up failed. how can I tell if either of these recovery images are functional or corrupted? do I need to put the img files into an emulator like Bluestacks or in VirtualBox? does this mean I cant flash a custom recovery image? I'm trying to push this tablet past KitKat if I can, and I seem to have gotten a bit farther than others I've seen on forums with this tablet. any help is appreciated and desperately needed.

The stock recovery backup just backs up your stock recovery to be used in case something goes wrong when flashing your custom recovery via TWRP Manager. You could just as easily download a copy of your stock firmware and extract the stock recovery from the firmware, this ensures you have an uncorrupted copy of your stock recovery.img. If you extract a copy from your stock firmware, you can skip the stock recovery backup step in TWRP Manager and just flash your TWRP.img if you have one.

If TWRP Manager fails to flash your TWRP recovery.img, you could use a Terminal Emulator app to flash the TWRP.img via dd commands but you would have to use some technical methods to identify exactly which mmcblk0(partition) location is the recovery partition on your device then use that address in the dd command to flash the TWRP.img to your recovery partition. You have to be certain you are using the correct dd command with exactly the correct mmcblk0 address, if you get any part of the syntax, characters or spacing wrong, you absolutely WILL brick the device.

Alright, that definitely seems like a method. how do I go about extracting the recovery image directly from the firmware? I cannot get the device to be detected by my computer and updated drivers for this device are non-existent as the parent comapany who made these devices went bust in 2019, and there's nowhere to source drivers the tablet detects (but i did find a driver windows installed automatically the first time i connected the tablet to my PC, though this is a generic driver that claims to be the latest version). I have a MicroSD that is double the storage of the entire tablet currently in it, is there a way to copy it to the SD manually, like what TWRP manager is trying to do, without my PC? thank you for your help, its greatly appreciated!

Edited to put the quoted post in my reply

Three ways.

1) if your PC has a card reader you can use a micro SD card to transfer between phone and device

2) you can use a USB pen driive with an adapter to convert USB to Micro USB or USB C to transfer between device and PC

3) you can use a mobile browser on the device to download the firmware and then use an app like Zarchiver from the PlayStore to extract the recovery.img from the firmware.

Hello, I have problem with "if" in my script.

this script working well:
Bash:
while true
do
    input keyevent 26
    sleep 10
done
after 10s the power button is clicked

But this script doesn't work:
Bash:
seconds=5

while true
do
    if [ "$seconds" -ge 5 ]; then
        input keyevent 26
    fi
    sleep 1
done
Where is problem, why simple `if` doesn't work?

I recently tried the dumb move of updating Magisk through the app itself. When rebooted it got stuck on bootloop, I then booted to Orangefox on my Redmi K20 Pro. I then did resetting to defaults in settings which showed 2 errors- Unable to mount system root and vendor(invalid arguement something like that) which resulted in my data being encrypted. When I tried to reboot it said no OS installed. I didn't know what to do so I watched a youtube video instructing to wipe data and rebooting to recovery to fix this(encrypion) and so i did another dumb move of doing it which resulted in my device getting rid of Orangefox then, and now I am stuck on either boot loop with no recovery or in fastboot mode which isn't really doing much since it's not being recognised by my pc. I am not much of a knower in this side but I knew some of the basics and followed instructions to install recovery and root and now have managed to break it. And now I'm panicking. SOMEONE HELP!!

Repeat the method you did, to boot to TWRP, and, I guess, then flash it to the ramdisk partition, to permanently have it.
About the PC not recognizing your device, just update the drivers when your device is in fastboot mode, you should see under device manager, something like "bootloader interface".

okay turned out my pc was missing the drivers, so I installed them and now my device is being recognised. I think the rest is the same as before. But I do wanted to ask something, do I nedd to flash firmware before my new ROM? some said I should boot into it multiple times or some shizz. I am confused for this.

Some custom ROMs require a specific build version as based, but if you had about the latest update before trying that custom ROM, then it is not required to repeat that part of the operation because it is still there.

Just to note, some TWRP are "defective" as they are not detecting an OS installed, probably because of dynamical, or double partition limitation, so you just have to ignore that warning, and try to reboot. It the matter doesn´t deserve more attention, then hit straight at "reboot system".

reset network settings to factory
changed APN settings
checked if the IMEII s registred in my country and lots more

You should always have to check what you buy, I'm not even tell you about some hidden technical features, but at least trying to place a call?

Check here about the IMEI that actually are in your device https://www.imeipro.info/samsung_imei_check.html, then go to the recovery screen, to see if some data matches with the description you'll find there

Then make a factory reset, it should be not enough by only resetting APN settings from OS, but from the stock recovery.

This is what I firstly thought, of course, we can't know for sure, but I think IMEI was modified intentionally to free up from a carrier contract, when the IMEI is not legit/provided from the carrier itself, then this is the result.

I celebrate your decision to return to the original owner, but keep in mind that not always the device is precisely stolen (check that is not blacklisted), sometimes people buy its devices without properly honoring the contract, or they want to switch to another carrier, in this case the device is still, de facto, property of the carrier, but usually, they charge the responsibility to the client, not to the device persecution.
Finding the owner would spend a hard time, and maybe they are not interested to meet you. Of course, again, this is no more than a theory.

Not sure if Samsung offers IMEI to buy from them or from re-sellers, check if this can be done.

And of course, check if the bands are the same from what your service provider supposes to work, and/or if your SIM is working fine, swap to another device and so on.

Do the IMEI when you bought the phone is the same after flashing stock rom? Maybe the owner before you swapped the IMEI and after flashing stock it get back to original one
Edit: sorry i haven't read your second reply and its IMEI is swapped so you have to get your original imei to your carrier and you can know if it is stolen

thanks for telling me it would have been problematic if i go there in order to do good and end up being locked up

wouldn't buying a new imei be illegal is it aight if i go to a samsung shop and ask to buy an imei i think some re-sellers don't care but how does that work do they give the phone a new motherboard or could it be done without changing any components

and how can my imei not matching my phone's specifications result in me not connecting to the internet because the imei that is used on it right now is registred

do i need to change it to an imei that gives the same model info as my phone

First off, can you reach the original seller, to claim some solution?.
Probably you can, based on the SN, asking the carrier, what the situation of your device actually is. Edit: Check here that also based on the SN, device is clean https://sndeep.info/en
From what I know, Samsung official repair centers can charge a new IMEI from them, probably not covered by the guarantee, but a paid service, because it mostly came from unofficial maneuvers, I don't know about particular re-sellers.
The issue on your device, seems to me, without no doubts, that came from improper methods used, but what happened exactly, we only can theorize, maybe the last owner already had this kind of random lost signal, and then took it to a service center, the guy there thought that doing what they did, things can be solved, we can't know for sure.
Like the Wi-Fi and antenna modules come into the motherboard, you can just change it, this way, you'll have a clean and fresh device, but the price worth it?

Hello, I am new to your forums, and I hope I am posting this in the right place.
I'm wondering if anyone has access to a "mobogenie" installer.
I have a 16gb Hipstreet Phoenix (not rooted) that is in a boot loop, because the update corrupted.
I've been led to believe that mobogenie will look up the tablet automatically, and apply any needed ROM or flashing or something.
any help, or direction towards help would be appreciated.
From what I know, Mobogenie is (was?) just a kind of Android manager/bridge between your PC and a smartphone, it can´t flash/install/update any form of firmware.

Instead, you should search for a reliable firmware for your device, and search for a tool that can flash it, according the processor it has.

Firstly, you should try by booting to the recovery stock, and making wipes, and if needed, formatting data, trying to fix it.
    1
Hello, and thank you for the reply.
I (as well as others) can't seem to find the original firmware.
hipstreet has no download section containing anything useful (at least as far as I could figure, I am a novice afterall)
However, the processor seems to be a "1.6GHz Quad Core CPU processor".

The reason I had asked specifically about Mobogenie was because another user in an XDA thread said it was pretty much a one shot problem solver.
This is the thread I'm talking about.

I'm not sure if linking is allowed, but it's an XDA link, so I figured it wouldn't violate the sites TOS

However, when I boot up the tablet, it gives me the Hipstreet H screen (which i assume is bios), waits a few seconds, proceeds to the next splash screen saying "Hipstreet Phoenix" which i assume is it preparing to load its OS.. then it goes to a screen saying "android is upgrading" with a looping circle symbolizing loading, with text that says "starting apps".

seems like progress, however it doesn't get past this screen.
I have left it for several hours to see if maybe it would bypass it, but nothing yet.

I tried using android recovery too, and after using all available options, I can only get back to the point I mentioned about it "starting apps" and not going further.

I apologize for the long post, but I figure if I'm able to get any advice, I should provide all info I can.

Thank you all for your help.
Apart from what it says the tittle, all the thread is focused in the goal to achieve root in this device, it may be, primarily, because, either, in the old days, some specific firmware were not friendly with rooting, or they need to get the kernel from the stock firmware, in order to inject su binaries into it. I found nothing about flashing a ROM.

From what I remember, many years back, I installed this app, but in order to have what they claim to do, manage, share and transfer files from and to, Android and PC, apart of offer a kind of app store, but it resulted in many problems, not entirely sure, but it seems, it contained a troupe of virus, so I formatted and reinstalled the OS, in order to recover my PC, (success).

I assume, that you mean for "all available options" that you did in recovery, that you formatted data?

Also, you can try to boot to fastboot and make fastboot -w then try to boot.
    1
I have identified the app now and uninstalled, but my other problems still exist like not being able to connect/manage wifi connections. The wifi button doesn't even show when pulling down the control panel and does not show up in settings which means I can also not use the Play Store. Since its a truly custom kernel too, it even tells me that Android Version is 1.1.5 but is actually 7.0.

Here is a shot of my reduced settings options:
I guess you couldn´t enter to settings, and you already use the activity launcher app to do so, same way, either you did or not, you could try with an activity launcher app to launch WiFi settings section, just in case you´re wondering what is this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher&hl=en&gl=US

    Hello guys..:)
I would like you to go through XDA new users guide and you must read the FORUM RULES before posting here or anywhere else on xda.

The rate at which the new users are joining xda on daily basis is very high. A lot of users join because they have got some problems with their devices like bricked phone, bootloops etc. because of following incorrect processes. Some join to help out others, to share their knowledge and gain more.

So basically this thread is for all of those who want to ask questions and answer those.

So those who want to help here, just try to answer without flaming, let it be answered thousands of times earlier, show them the path, direction and let them do things on their own. Do not spoon feed, rather just try to point them to right direction.

This whole idea is of @undercover and the former OP Bruce Wayne and I thank him.

To The people asking questions here, don't forget to check for the links from 2nd post. That will help you increase your knowledge, and do answer the questions asked by others if you know the answer. Please don't simply say thanks if some member helps you, instead use the thanks button, that will help us keep this thread less cluttered.
