Guys I'm looking for help for a month and I'm starting to lose my mind...
I have a poco f3 device. my issue is that whenever I use Wi-Fi and turn off the screen
I don't get notifications for WhatsApp, Discord, Skype etc...
when using wifi with screen on everything is normal, and also when using mobile data there is no issues at all, even when the screen is off...
the notifications delay only occur when using wifi and the screen is off...
some times itll work but most of the times it wont... ill get the notifications either after 1-3 minutes or whenever i turn on the screen...
I'm having the same issue with other wifi networks too...
strange thing is that it happens across roms (official miui, xiaomi.eu, lineageos, arrow os)
and also my Redmi note 9s suffer from the same issue, but my moms galaxy a52 dont have this issue at all and her whatsapp notifications arrive instantly no matter how much ive tried to replicate the issue...
is there any fix or should i accept my device is cursed...
EDIT: it appears that the issue does happens on my moms galaxy a52 after all...
I don't know what's happening anymore...
Things to try:
- Use MAC from device, not random. (Combine with the option to randomize the MAC -in developer options)
- Use the stock launcher, using the stock Miui launcher, it has all the permission enabled by default.
- Disable battery optmization. for the launcher, and the apps involved
- The same for Miui optimizations (in developer options).
- Enable draw over other apps.

tried all of these & unfortunately it didnt work...
I'm starting to think this is a general Android/Google issue since it happens across devices and roms...

Well, unfortunately I noticed this issue more persistently in all my Xiaomi devices, not usually in Samsung, and actually, no issues with a Realme, so it´s not a general issue with Android itself, although newer Android versions tend to sleep device every time the screen is being off.

Anyway, actually, you´re using a custom ROM, if you try the stock Xiaomi ROM, and using the default launcher, probably things can change. In my actual Realme device, notifications are in real-time, using the stock launcher, but when I changed to Nova launcher, notifications have a noticeable delay.

It also happend on stock miui eea and global version 12,13 and 14
default launcher every time
on my moms galaxy a52 it seems more reliable but i havent tested it like my poco f3 and redmi note 9s and even so there is still delay when using wifi, also happend on a samsung galaxy tab a7 when i tried....
please try the following steps to confim you dont have the issues
  1. connect to wifi, turn off mobile data, and disconnect any charger if connected...
  2. close all apps from the recents screen using the "X" button.
  3. turn off the screen and then wait about 20 seconds and send yourself a whatsapp message...
    * if it wasn't delayed repeat from step 2 for 2-3 times and eventually it should be delayed...
    * if it is still not delayed, please repeat from step 2 for 2-3 times and this time instead of waiting 20 seconds wait 1 minute and 10 seconds ( if still wont delay can try waiting for 5 minutes and 10 seconds)
very important to keep mobile data off and unplug charger or usb for testing purpose...
I know these steps are kind off extreme but theyre only to replicate the issue.
the issue can also happen randomly in day to day usage without taking those steps as long as you're connected to wifi and not connected to a charger...

Yes, this post complemented the first one.
Can you identify that app?, if so, then you can try firstly, an app activity launcher, then open the settings, go to that app, and uninstall it, additionally, you could use to "uninstall" the app using pm commands, but if you can do the first method would be better.
I have identified the app now and uninstalled, but my other problems still exist like not being able to connect/manage wifi connections. The wifi button doesn't even show when pulling down the control panel and does not show up in settings which means I can also not use the Play Store. Since its a truly custom kernel too, it even tells me that Android Version is 1.1.5 but is actually 7.0.

Here is a shot of my reduced settings options:

All relies in the deep sleep Miui UI apply to its devices, anyway, I had this issues just temporarily, because, in the first days I have a Xiaomi device, I unlocked it, but doing all these steps, that rarely kept the stock condition, I never had this issue anymore, it´s all about Miui battery optimization, nothing that can´t be solved, if you apply the steps I indicated, one by one. Unfortunately I don´t have a Xiaomi device right now to show you a step-by-step troubleshooting. of course all of the said, also apply for some custom ROM, in the battle for SOT, battery optimization and so on, Android tends to kill apps running in background.

For example you have an apart for Battery, and you have to whitelist the app (WA, FB, etc), tap on Not Optimized, and also in the settings from the app you have the option to let the app start automatically (it is not enabled by default), also, check the "Limit data plan" or Internet save data section

If the app is not "optimized" to run in background, you always have the notification from it, again, it´s all about deep sleep, nothing more. .

I guess you couldn´t enter to settings, and you already use the activity launcher app to do so, same way, either you did or not, you could try with an activity launcher app to launch WiFi settings section, just in case you´re wondering what is this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.szalkowski.activitylauncher&hl=en&gl=US

Strange enough, I guess you did dive into every battery optimization, don´t optimize. app permission stuff and so, ie. for WhatsApp, let the app running in background, and let the app start automatically. After that, clear caches, even go to recovery to do it, then restart.
And also did you check that WiFi/mobile data, is not erratic.
Check this app to better understand what I´m talking about https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.urbandroid.dontkillmyapp&hl=en_US

Some have it, try with adb reboot fastboot, anyway, you should need first, to unlock bootloader, otherwise fastboot mode is useless for this purpose. Ande depending on the SoC your device uses, it could be other methods available though
i have the oppo a31 rooted and doesn't support the fastboot, it just reboot everytime i try to use that command :)

What is actually your goal? Is it your device powered by a MediaTek processor?
yes, it power by mediatek chip (the helio p35), not every phone have the bootloader mode (like oppo, they don't like user to break something and have some problem with that). i just want to ask how do you can remove "dm-verity" with out any cost money tool and without fastboot. you can abord the quesition if you like ;/ sorry for wasting your time tho

Don´t worry. I know OPPO devices have fastboot disabled intentionally, and also that they don´t allow bootloader to be unlocked, I wondered, if this specific device have access to fastboot (they can change their mind at some point), this is what I asked the adb reboot fastboot and adb reboot bootloader commands, to know what they produce; and also, having this facts present, which method did you use to unlock bootloader?.

Anyway, the error comes because it´s unlikely to get critical partitions also unlocked, that leaves to a kind of semi, instead o a full unlocked device, certain images are still monitored while they´re loaded into system, if your device can boot to system, this warning message is nothing more than a cosmetic problem, some OEMs add to that, the need to press the PWR button (again) to can boot.

hello all , i've got a problem that ive seen discussed before but ive yet to fix mine.
after flashing a android 11 rom i reboot and land on a "security" type screen asking for a password. normally i am on android 7. was just going to try it out.
so far from my readings that had answers/suggestions i have :
__ typed in "Correct_Password".
__ formatted data.
__ reflashed my exact firmware.
__ got frustrated then got over it.
__ ran a script by @Zackptg5 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...ncrypt-disk-quota-disabler-11-2-2020.3817389/).
and here i am. i have an htc M9. firmware 4.27.502.7. rooted with chainfire's superSU. S-off. superCID. was on android 7.
has anyone run across an answer or idea to try that could be shared?
much appreciation for reading and thank you ,
dave

I vaguely remember, I had this by flashing a GSI, some years ago, it seems that it was kinda "pulled" from a device, then as it seems to be encrypted, then it required a password, that of course, I never found.

By the way, which ROM did you flash?
