Hi everyone.

I have a HTC Desire HD with android 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0 and I want to flash it to get android 4.0+ to be able to install some apps like Vine that requires android 4.0 but... I'm kind of lost, I read some post over the forums, there's a lot of tutorials, a lot of roms, I need a good one, I don't really know where to start exactly.

I never did that.. well just a simple flash of my Ipod touch, but it was really easy compared to what I have to do now especially since I read that it's not possible to do it anymore with the AAHK program. If I do the "Unlock Bootloader" from the HTCDev website, is it good enough to install a rom or do I have to do much more than that?

So if someone can tell me what to do exactly or send me a link to an up to date tutorial.. so I don't block my phone it would be most appreciated.

(my english is not perfect, sorry, it's not my main language, I know I make some simple mistakes sometimes).

@ renzer0

i have the same, 2.3.5 and 3.0 sense and unlocked the bootloader with htc.dev, fllashed 3 or 4times various rooted 4-roms (4.0, 4.1, 4.2) but in all there were probs with basics hardware items (no wifi, no gps, no camera...) some members here say, they have no problems, some say they have (like me).

Its up to you what you will do. After checking the 4-roms i'm running now android revolution HD (rooted, 2.3.5 and sense 3.5, very stable, all works, its fast and battery experience is ok).

Hey,

i was wondering... there's a way to disable the "autocorrection"?
with that i mean, when you write something if the word is unknown to the phone, when you'll press the space it will change it automatically with the one he selected in the suggestion...
there's a way to keep the suggestion thing, but disable that "auto-select" when you press space and only correct the word only when u do so tapping on a suggestion? (something like gokeyboard does...) maybe without using other keyboards app...

Language and input > android keyboard settings > auto correction > off

hi guys ;

my battery is dead. i m looking for a battery for my desire hd on ebay ? any suggestion ? thx
Be careful of ones that say High capacity, or with claims of capacity much greater than the original battery.

About 11 or 12 hundred mA is about all that can be packed into the dhd battery. There are other phones that can and do have high capacity batteries, but these usually replace the back panel and make your phone thicker.

I've seen a few sellers claiming genuine HTC batteries, but given that HTC dropped support for the dhd quite a while back, I'd want to know the manufacture date, as an old lithium ion battery might be as bad as your existing one.

I'd be interested to hear reports from people who've bought phone batteries off eBay

I would think that the R11 is the best one. Almost all ROMs will have there own share of problems, and choosing a stable one is up for YOU to decide. Just flash one and see what happens.

MY QUESTION NOW: So bear with me, I'm coming from the One XL forum in order to help my brother root his Inspire. So there are 2 ways to get root, right? I have rooted my One X without a hitch, but there are almost too many guides telling me 3452345325 different ways to root this phone. So anyway, here is my bros hboot

ACE PVT SIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-2.00.0030
MICROP-0438
RADIO-26.17.14.11_M
eMMC-boot

So I can do 2 procedures to gain root. Tell me if I'm wrong.

1. Using the standard HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader, then flash a recovery, then flash supersu, correct? I already have adb working for my phone, does it need to be different for the inspire?
2. Using the Easy Ace Root

I am confused because with the One XL (evita from now on) I did procedure 1, but I don't know if my brothers hboot will allow that. And there is this complicated procedure regarding something called a Goldcard and I get really confused whether I need one or not.
Both methods work; the Easy Ace Root Tool basically automates what you describe in #1. However, to use HTC Dev to unlock the bootloader, the bootloader needs to be a certain version or higher. If your bootloader isn't updated, then you will need to run a RUU to update it. If no updated RUU exists for your phone, you will need to create a goldcard so you can run another region's RUU.

Whatsapp

Hey guys.
I am running Cyanogenmod 10.1 nightly on my Desire HD. Earlier through whatsapp, I could use my stock voice recorder to send long audios. After rooting and flashing, I am left with the whatsapp recorder which lets me record only 2 minutes. Can anyone please tell me how to integrate a voice recorder with whatsapp so that I can send longer audios?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!

Are any other people having problems with the volume rockers not working very well?

I've had my DHD get picked up by HTC to fix it, they did but a few months or even weeks later the problem was back.
I've learn to live with it now for nearly 4 years, but I'm wondering if I'm not the only one out there.

And more importantly, if it is fixable with some DIY-fu :)
