Best ROM & Kernel Combination

Hi there,

having an Nexus 5 for myself i gave my old DHD to my son. Now so far i´m not very active in this part of the forum. Can someone give me a hint what can be the best ROM/Kernel combination for 1. being actual (as good as it gets) 2. have an stable system (and all works) and 3. good battery.

Would be great. I ask this here, cause there are so many ROMs in this section...

You could easily get many different answers with that. My suggestion wold be to use a Rom as close to official as possible.
Take a look ARHD 9.2.

Yes, thought of this too. But nothing is better then a few suggestions of users who tested a lot of ROMs

Best rom discussions are not allowed. Each user has their own needs and taste. There is stock and aosp. And many flavors of both. What rom you use is based on what you use your phone for the most.

I don´t want to start a best ROM discussion, cause i have for myself no meaning of this. Just wanted to have 1-2 Hints which me allow not to test all ROMs by myself or read every d*** ROM Thread to the end. Excuse me, for having an normal question. Sounds like a best rom discussion. Maybe if you ask more specifically you may get a more specific answer. Such as what is a good aosp themed all black rom with a good battery, etc...

I have to agree with gizmoe (which I did before reading it was you).

But, let's try to give some closure(?).

If your son doesn't care about any of this and just wants a phone that works, first I would suggest to buy a new battery if the one in the phone is old. Then, stick with a gb rom (despite that there are a few ICS and JB roms which are good). You could go for:

Sense roms - the non ported one by Mike or the one that Gizmoe made which you could find in the inspire section. Over there you can also find one made by cleardroid which is also good.

Non-sense roms - either blackice, or absolution in the inspire section.

If you want ICS - Then go for either lordclockan's rom or existz as well in the inspire section. Both of those will have garbled text which gets fixed with a reboot. There is a newer version for existz rom compiled by someone else (it also has the garbled text), you'll have to search the last dozen pages or so to find it.

Anything above that may or may not be suitable for your son if he isn't into any of this since they may require some degree of troubleshooting.

Luckily few people every read this thread and thus, avoiding the possible best rom discussion that could have started.

Stuck during root, need help !!!!!

Hello,

Amidst of rooting my HTC Desire HD a notification bar popped up in below right corner of my PC saying "USB device not recognized" and after that I sat still for several mins but nothing happened. I knew something had went wrong but stayed still hoping I might be wrong. Although I did my homework before rooting but this was unforeseen event.

Now my device is showing a black screen with white shadow around all four corners. Can this state be rectified? I can't seem to do anything, it's frozen. To all the experts out there, please help and suggest a probable solution to the problemo at hand.

Thanks in advance though eagerly waiting to hear from u guys.

P.S: I was using Adv Ace Hack Kit for the procedure of rooting under command prompt window during which the "error" occurred.

Cm 7.2 is the best with battery. Only thing is that its outdated and looks archaic. But u can chose themes for it. That rom has good batt life. Try it out!!

SD Card wont mount in recovery

Hey guys, hope you all having a good start to the year. I've had an issue that I've been trying to fix with my Inspire4G and I really need help now. I've tried various different things but they all kind of go in a circle of things that don't work. A year ago I installed went S-ON and flashed cwm + 4.2.2 cyanogen unofficial. I stopped using the phone for a while but recently tried updating to kitkat. I probably made a mistake somewhere and now recovery won't mount my sdcard. I think I flashed twrp over cwm. Mounting didn't work with twrp so I tried 4ext, no good. I'll list stuff that do work.

- SD card mounts when phone is on, I can explore it, move files in/out
- Phone works in a general sense, checked for root and seems to be fine
- ADB and fastboot works, my PC sees the phone
- I can go into recovery
- PD98IMG.zip can be picked up by HBOOT, so sd card seems to be fine there
- my bootloader is ACE PVT SHIP S-ON RL, HBOOT-0.85.0024, MICROP-0438, RADIO-26.10.04.03_M, eMMC-boot, Jan 4 2012, 13:09:29

What DOESNT WORK
- E: won't mount in recovery, displays as 0mb, can't format (is in FAT32 already, tried multiple sdcards that work for another phone)
- I can't RUU cause it can't see my phone
- I tried fastboot oem rebootRUU to manually flash the RUU but I got a "error 43 main version check failed"
- PD98IMG.zip gives "main version is older" error
- fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 does nothing
- fastboot oem readcid gives "ERR Command Error"
- fastboot getvar all gives cidnum as CWS__001
- tried making a goldcard but the program i used couldnt find my phone. Not sure how to go about making one manually.

I made a new thread before but got no replies, would really appreciate some help. Anything to get me back to stock or some direction to go from here would be amazing. Thanks all.

Phone restarts when using gallery app on CM 11

HTC DHD with CM11.
Sometimes the device restarts by itself, when I use the Google Gallery App.
I can't post my question in the original thread (hier) because I'm a junior member , so I hope someone here can help.

did your bootloader still with unlocked state while flashing RUU..?, then what version a stock RUU did you already tried to flashing it..?

if your bootloader still unlocked..then you must locked first through fastboot "fastboot oem lock"...then after that you can continued tried flashing stock RUU again...tried RUU version from here..

RUU still cannot detect my phone even though using minimal adb and fastboot I can see it (btw HTC Sync cant see my phone either, I've tried countless driver reinstalls). I used rebootRUU and it went up until FAILED (remote: 90 hboot pre-update! please flush image again immediately). I flashed again and it gave me

(bootloader) adopting the signature contained in this image...
(bootloader) signature checking...
FAILED (remote: 12 signature verify fail)

That's all it gives me now. I'll probably unlock to see if it works but.. I hear rebootRUU will only work for S-OFF devices (I am S-ON). So idk.

EDIT: As I thought, manual RUU didn't work since I am S-ON. Got remote 99 fail. I don't have any clue why RUU or HTC Sync can't see my phone, so I don't know what else I can do. D:

are you sure..that you're already re-lock a bootloader first before flashing a RUU from bootloader..?

Guys... I have a doubt ........ When i try to flash ROMs like SVHD / Imaginable sense 5 it successfully flashes... i clicked reboot and it also rebooted.. but after the boot logo it returns to the recovery or stucks at the boot animations... i thought that it may be rom defected so i downloaded it many times.. but this occurs all times..... Please help me to over come this..
