Hi,
I plan to buy Desire HD but I have one question. What is the difference between a branded (T-mobile Vodaphone) phone and a non branded one? Is It just the brand or they have other hardware differences ?

Branded phones have "extra" apps and customisation from the carrier, e.g. boot screen. Hardware should be the same. Moreover, when updates are released, branded phones normally have to wait until the carrier modifies the update first, while unbranded ones get them on release.

What do you think?
Is there any chance in the future, to run Windows Phone 7 on the HTC Desire HD?

Sorry for my bad English:S

Best bet is to get an HD7 or any other WP7 phone. As for WP7 pin the DHD, it's not possible.

Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

I'm having a bug with my text messages.

If I send someone a text message, when they reply it appears above what I've sent them - as if it was from earlier.

It would seem this only happens if they respond fairly quickly.
Has anyone else experienced this? As you can imagine it makes it hard to keep track of conversations...

stuck at the htc white splash screen.. :-(

hey guys, hope u could help me out.. im stuck at the home screen oh my desire hd.. something went wrong with how i was downgrading from 1.72 to 1.32.

first i tried restoring factory defaults.. it just took a long time on that white htc splash screen..

i tried this RD1945's guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=826465&highlight=PD98IMG.zip.. got an ruu file, renamed the ruu file to PD98IMG, then i put it on the root folder my micro sd card using a reader, then i plug it back in my phone, run hboot, the hboot parsed the zip file which i renamed according to the steps.. after it parsed it brought me back to the fastboot, recovery, restore factory defaults menu, etc... which i then chose fastboot then reboot... it reboots but im still stuck at the htc white splash screen for some time now.. what am i doin wrong? does it take long to start? sorry im a noob can someone explain to me how its done properly?

Bluetooth and lock screen

Receiving calls via Bluetooth works fine as the car accepts the call, but when I make calls the screen comes on unlocked and instantly hangs up. Is there a way to stop the screen coming on, or always come on locked?

Is there anyway to change how long the phone will ring for before the voicemail kicks in?

I find that it only rings a couple of times which means by the time I hear it and then get it out of my pocket I've missed the call. As such I would like some way to extend it.

I actually had the same problem on my old Hero but the issue is more annoying on the DHD due to it's really poor loudspeaker.

Thanks ;)
Ok, I found a fix for this....

On your phone dial:

*#61#

Then hit call.

This will tell you the duration before calls are sent to voicemail (mine was 15 by default).

To change it dial:

**61*<you voicemail number here>*11*XX#

Remove the <> and add your own voicemail number (press Menu > Call > Voicemail Settings if you don't know it).

Replace XX with the time you want (has to be multiple of 5 and no longer than 30, so 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30).

Hit dial and you should now have a longer ring before voicemail kicks in.

Should work for all networks on any phone.

HOWEVER.... as I'm typing this I needed to clarify something, so I did a quick Google search and have since found that there is an option in the menus anyway! :D

Menu > Call > Call Forwarding > Forward When Unanswered

You will now see a drop-down where you can change the delay.

More Homescreens

I know this has been asked a lot on the internet, but I haven't seen or couldn't find any posts on XDA, and don't have a good answer yet:

Is it possible to get more homescreens on the DesireHD? I have the basic 7 now. 3 Left, 3 Right and the one with the clock in the middle.
I would like to have more...

Is it possible?
Cheers.

7 is a lot compared to stock Android!

I think you might be out of luck though as even the custom launchers such as Launcher Pro and ADW only support up to 7. I've never seen any that support more than that but you could have a look in the Android Development forum. The Apps or Themes sections might be good places to start as there is a lot of discussion about custom launchers those:

------

Failing that - This isn't an ideal solution but if you're running low on screen space for icons and widgets then try and app called Apps Organizer. It lets you create homescreen icons which when clicked open as a pop-up with your pre-selected shortcuts in it. Very handy! I use one for all my games and one for all my most used system tools but you can use as many as you want and put whatever you want in them.

I'm hoping I get good karma by answering your question and someone will answer mine!

The battery life is dependent on a number of things, but yes, you can last a full day and more. For example, at the weekend I made a few calls, I leave bluetooth and wifi on all the time, with push gmail, palringo, fring, friend stream etc and in a 12 hour day still had 50% battery. Yesterday at work (where I have terrible reception and my phone kept roaming from t-mobile onto the shared orange 2G network) I made a number of fairly long calls, got some apps from the store, push gmail, few webpages. At the end of the day battery was still 24% (this was worse than normal because the wifi router someone else controls was switched off, so the phone was trying to get a decent 3G signal all day - on a normal day it is normally around 40% I guess.

I don't use a TaskKiller (because I don't think you need to) but I do have JuiceDefender running, though I'm not sure whether this is really giving me any savings.

hello there. i am planning to buy either samsung capativate or HTC desire HD
but alot of review said it has a very poor battery life, i checked, its 1150 mAH. which is same as my old SE p1i , i dont play alot of games but i read books and news articles ..
do you think the battery can hold for 12-15 hours ?

and someone said that there are new batteries for HTC with more mAH ...

i seriously want to buy HTC desire HD , but batter is main concern ...
