With all the features that are missing (amoled, front cam, good speakers), however uneccesary they might be, I can't understand why such a high price. Nokia N8 might have that awful Symbian, but it seems like a more attractive offer, at least as far as price is concerned.

Few questions about the DHD

Hi all,

I've got my contract coming to an end in October 29th so i'm in the market for a new phone, i've had my eye on the Galaxy S but i've just spotted the desire hd and i do prefer htc phones to be fair.

Not sure if you guys can help me but if you can then great.

OK here goes,

Will the hd have a 1ghz + cpu
Will it be fully multi touch capable (like the galaxy S, Not the original desire which apparently isn't)
Has anyone seen one in action yet, enough so to test the gps, wifi, bluetooth etc.
Are there any alternatives to the galaxy S and desire hd which are out around October - Xmas period??

Thanks all.

- yes it has a new generation Qualcom 1ghz CPU, which is faster than the previous generation CPU used by the Desire / Nexus 1.

- yes, 4 points multi touch.

- GPS chip is Qualcom 8th generation (7th generation for Desire / Nexus 1)

Thanks for the heads up, never used MPD before, has anyone got any experience with them? Obviously I'm interested in whether they meet their shipping dates! 6th October sounds too good to be true.
Yup I bought my TP2 from them and I will never buy from them again! My TP2 developed a fault within a month of purchase, their view is " we don't handle repairs send it to HTC" I got comments such as "Sale of Goods act does not apply to us, we're mail order" and "Once you open the box you've accepted the contract so Sale of Goods act does not apply". I got no response from recorded delivery letters! Because I needed the phone I gave up (small claims court was next step and would have taken too long) sent it back to HTC and got the repairs done.

caveat emptor!

It is a phone for god sake,if u want good quality pictures use a camera then. :p sorry kinda tired of people complaining about a phones camera..that is why it is called a phone :p
And i'm quite pleased with the desire's pictures results! If taken at the right moment at the right spot it'll turn out wonderfull :p
If you're putting a camera on a phone, than put a good one, if not, don't put it in at all. That simple. They sure know how to charge us for that camera though.

I want to buy it anyway. Where I am I only get 3g at work - at home I'm still on edge, so I'm used to the speeds. I want it because it's soo pretty, but I have to find out how much it is unlocked first!

Are you talking about the operating system or the phones? New phones are out all the time, that's just how it is. I'm not sure on OS release dates though.
i think he was referring to the hardware. But i think the next generation is the dual cores, and im pretty sure we'll see those at the beginning of next year. I would just get the Desire HD and not worry about the next generation.

Will it be on pay as you go or will I have to go SIM free? I ask because I'm hoping at least one network will give me a few months free Internet with it like they do with PAYG BlackBerries and iPhones.
Not many phone retailers do PAYG on latest high end phones, as they make more money with contracts.
£30 per month for 2 years is £720.
PAYG phone, no guarantee you will not get phone unlocked and change SIM provider.

SIM free, you can change SIM as often as you like to get cheapest calls/text/internet and foreign use.

lcd for a such expensive device?!
i can't imagine it
if hTc don't want to be a serious competitor to apple and samsung (considering screen quality), it's the perfect wrong way
