Why do people prefer the ASOP browser? Curious!
It is the only way I am aware of to watch Amazon Video on Demand (assuming you install flash). We really should petition Amazon for an app. It is insane that we have to hack in an old browser, and an app known for its insecurities, to use Amazon's video service.

After spending time looking around at other sites with people b#*@#ing about the absence of an amazon android app the apparent reasons are that they have an android app, you just have to buy a kindle to use it. The other being licensing/drm related, and Amazon not being able to guarantee their partners that their content is not being pirated due to the open and unsafe nature of the android operating system. They did just update their drm on the video side recently and for a week they were most likely flooded with 3 million hate messages from android users unable to watch any of their purchased content. I think they just opened it back up so that they don't have to build an app. Just wait, I think kindle is going to get scrapped for the most part, kindle books sell great, but their hardware sales suck. Then, and only then, you will get an android app.

But heck, not meaning to crap on your thread, but one of the biggest reasons I got the aosp browser was its ability to actually function as a full featured web browser. Yes the internet still uses flash, not everyone can afford to hire a web designer to reengineer their sites into HTML5.

do i have to uninstall previous asop browser?

Jus dl zip and extract apk... That will work as well. Jus have to edit browser proxy if it hasn't been already. Add bak to the end. If ur already running asop browser u should be all good tho .

NavBar buttons

@op i'd be very thankful if you'd tell me how to get those NavBar buttons you have in the picture posted in the OP, OMG they are so sleek and cool. The stock buttons are obnoxious, anyway I searched the candy mods and other threads couldn't find them anywhere...so where do i get them?

Anybody facing a forward, back, refresh button missing on the browser problem?
It's an aosp bug, happens with all of the versions i've used. Just click the address area and click away to make the buttons show back up. I don't know why this bug is still prevalent but it is nothing that the op would be able to fix. If he is, he will be receiving a large applause from me.

The AOSP browser can be installed from the Play Store. I do it from there. Just search for AOSP browser and you'll find one.

anyone know if it works with 4.4.2? if yes, any .apk for this browser! i really miss it, had it on my nexus4
There are 2 apps on the play store which install this browser with bookmarks sync. The problem is, i've tried them, and they make my nexus 7 to reboot automatically. They are called aosp browser.
