Assigning messaging tones for contacts

There does not seem to be an option to assign messaging tones for individual contacts? Or am I just blind?

I'm not using a 10 yet, but isn't an option available inside the contact itself?

I only see an option for ringtone.

Ups... sorry, I misread what you said before...
I never saw that kind of option on a HTC, don't think it's possible with stock apps, but I might be wrong

Correct, HTC phones don't have this option. Which has always puzzled/frustrated me over the years.

I ended up switching to Textra as my texting app. Great customization and performance, including the ability to set individual ringtones for people.
