It seems the next batch or CK8 of the nexus 7 would be delayed because of "manufacturing delays" according to John Lewis's website
johnlewis. com/231697911/Product.aspx?source=46387

Does this mean the manufacturing process has been reviewed; no screen lift and dead pixels
No. It probably means they can't keep up with the demand.

Keep a watch on the trim ring in any new production run... I do think they will eventually make it metal, which will probably be enough to prevent it from being pulled down by the cover and exposing the glass on that side ("screen lift"). That's a cheap fix and would be hardly noticeable to most people; they wouldn't need to change any marketing or anything.

My Nexus is fine, no dead pixels, no screen lift, nothing. Absolutely perfect. Although when I unboxed it it already had a fingerprint on, I suppose they were checking them...
Who's they?

1. Asus/google quality control
2. Xda'er frantically checking units for screen lift
3. Travelocity gnome lifting the screen

Same. No issues at all.

Ive seen this same stupid retailer mentioned multiple times already, by the same person, and every time it gets the same response.

"Manufacturing delays" is just the retailer's way of saying "Its not our fault this thing isnt in stock" aka ASUS cant make them fast enough to meet demand.

Now that I think of it...my had fingerprints on it as well...I didn't pay it any mind as it was still factory sealed.

I wonder if they are unboxing them at the factory and checking them.

I think this whole rumor of Asus fixing N7 started with this some random online store John Lewis in Europe said so. For all we know this random site could be just BSing us because they don't have N7 in their inventory.

Where did both of you get your tablets, from the play store?

Because I've gone through two from Tesco, both with screen lifting and the replacement even had dead pixels, after that I got a refund and the lady at the till said that there's been a lot of returns because of a defect.

I really need this tablet because it's great, I just need to know where the "perfect" ones are

No complaints

I ordered a 16gb model for my wife last Tuesday, it was delivered Thursday.

No screen lift, flickering, no MIA pixels.

Only complaints is for some reason only about 15 for her 50+ Gmail contacts show up in her People app, and she can't seem to get the Google News and Weather widget on the N7. Hopefully big G will make it compatible.
