Hello from 4pda, here some instructions how to install the rom
1. Use TWRP. This rom doesn't work w/ CWM
2. Go to recovery. Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, System, Data, Internal Storage (You can put zip file via MTP)
3. Install zip file
4. Do factory reset after that
NOTE: On first boot, don't connect to Wi-Fi and skip Google Authorization. Deny Inpire ASUS (?) and Google programm. After you can connect via Wi-Fi and authorize to Google account.
Also I can give a list of deleted apps and added, if you want...
It's a beta version, seruios bugs are fixed, but if found new - PM me.

Got it, thanks.

Setup Wizard did crash a few times (but I think that's because I connected to WiFi)

System's back up and running, and Google Play is restoring all of the apps I had from before the reset.

450MB free of RAM is almost suspiciously high... I have a feeling it'll get worse over time.

I'm having an issue, don't think it's the ROM though. Bluetooth and the camera don't work.

This started happening when I upgraded to .33 using a Nandroid from my brother's tablet. I assumed it was because of the Nandroid.

Thing is, it's not working on this ROM either.

I did a logcat of the camera app trying to connect. It gives a no such device error (-19) and a few lines before that the system says it couldn't connect to /dev/video0

Any ideas? I don't think it's hardware, but I'm still kinda confused about it...

i know what it is.. install .33 without using the nandroid and let uefi update, then unlock bootloader again and reinstall the new version (its a problem with bootloader versions not matching, ive had that about 3/4 times)

I think you're right. The bootloader version is different because of the Nandroid. It also explains why other people had the same problem when they did the Nandroid.

I'll try that. Is there a script that just updates the uefi?

i dont think there is build you could easily change the updater script and delete all files except esp and meta-inf (of course.) and also i have an issue since i started upgrading manually this tablet in droidboot the serial no is 01234567890123456789 but in settings on info it shows normal serial number.

So, I've downloaded the .36 package...

I deleted everything except for esp.zip, and I modified the updater-script to look like this:

Code:
mount("/system");
package_extract_file("esp.zip", "/tmp/esp.zip");
flash_esp_update("/tmp/esp.zip");
unmount("/system");
@social-design-concepts should that be enough to trigger a UEFI update? I don't even know if mounting system is necessary...

Alternatively, the UEFI update is distributed in a file called BiosUpdate.fv, is there a way to directly flash that? Phone Flash Tool, perhaps?

Can confirm that the .36 russian backup has 450 MB free RAM, will update how it preforms.
I have 400 MB free as usual:

@jerbear294, yes, tablet works fine and has no hovers. On stock .36 I had 300 MB of free RAM and my background app closing every time, when I launch new app. At this ROM, this problem disappeared

I don't mind the ram being used as long as the tablet is responsive, I don't however like that I can't have firefox, relay for reddit and metal for facebook open in the same time, makes multitasking really troublesome when firefox has to reload everything and relay to reload the whole app so I don't know where I stopped reading

Same, typically free RAM is wasted RAM but this device takes that too seriously.

Yeah the tablet doesn't like music, it kills it when you're doing ANYTHING else besides playing music.

    Is there any way to go back to WW from CN? Cause the play store doesn't seem to work now

    its a litle complicated becouse when you try to sideloade ww version it gives error for not having inough space. So you need to give command to recovery to instal zip from location you want.
    1. root with rootzenfone.apk
    2. turn on usb debuging
    3. download ww rom and rename it update.zip
    4. download es or some other file menager that has root access.
    5. go to / (root) and manualy copy update.zip to /data folder
    6. open ADB and type line by line:

    adb remount
    adb shell
    su
    echo 'boot-recovery ' > /cache/recovery/command
    echo '--update_package=/data/update.zip' >> /cache/recovery/command
    echo '--wipe_cache' >> /cache/recovery/command
    echo 'reboot' >> /cache/recovery/command
    reboot recovery

    after this your device will reboot to recovery and automaticly instal ww rom. :)

    Interesting, what other form is there for them?

    Sent from my i708Q using Tapatalk

    I originally wrote an script/update.zip that is ran through the tethered twrp that generates an emergency PFT (Phone Flash Tool) package, then installed the .efi bootloader into the esp partition, and then would generate a twrp recovery from the devices stock recovery and then flash the generated twrp.img.

    unfortunately some devices / some versions of the tethered recovery concept didn't like the scripting and would error on md5 checking so i scrapped that and am working on making it into an actual app that will also check if a device meets the requirements of the insecure bootloader to try to make it as safe as possible for unconfirmed devices.

    Actually, I wouldn't recommend fastboot for this, I'd use dd. The only problem with that is if you don't know the partition numbers you can brick your device.

    if you want i can send you a update-binary script that will do the flashing of the images through the tethered recovery instead of having to manually dd the images. i would like to eliminate and chance of bricking a device.
    9
    Yep, with the insecure bootloader we can now flash a custom ROM
    @social-design-concepts is also working on Cyanogenmod 12.1 (I believe)

    CM-12.1 and Android-M
    9
    @jerbear294 I think hope to and really hoping to have something to test by the end of the weekend latest.

    After tonights build I should have a better idea.
