I am only getting about 4.5 hrs on my Infinity battery. The problem does seem to be how much the tablet is at 1500Mhz per CPU Spy. I can see that normal browsing and applications often jump the CPU to 1500.

I have tried EZ Overclock and ROM Toolbox to set my CPU lower, but they do not seem to be working. Even if I set it at 1300 for Performance, I can still see it spending a lot of time at 1500.

Strange thing is that System monitor only shows 4 CPUs - I thought I was able to also see the companion core (so 4+1) with the Prime.

I am going to run the battery calibration, but do not have much hope.

Hiya JJ* .......... great post !
IMHO.... this question of 'battery life' is more like 'how long is a string?' question .....< sorry for this pun>

I am glad JJ* mentioned that the BATTERY NEEDS TO ME FULLY DISCHARGED ....
This is ONE VERY IMPORTANT and a KEY STEP.....

few yrs ago; when i had a working life <lol now am retired dude and lovin it> ...i happen to get assigned to do lots of work on "BATTERY LIFE" for CMOS & NORMAL POWER use in laptops (sorry cannt do mfgr;s names etc) ...........
I found that ( discharge is THE MOST CIRITICAL STEP ) is keepin that battery - life and reduce 'discharge rate'.....< providing all other usage factors were kept even/equal>

Another tip I found usefull -
Uninstall / Shut down any "APPS" that you dont use often - or hardly use
SHUT DOWN non -needed running apps >>hit TaskManager often and shut off RUNNING APPS ( i even shut down things like GSTORE etc etc ) .. and often amased how much differance it makes ..

so I will be posting my status and pictures soon ... to help towards some 'benchmarks' soon...
on average - I dont need charging untill OVERNIGHT - and mine is used 12-16hrs a day ( with dock though )

There is a 'sticky topic' on BATTERY saving tips ... on this forum
Thanks man! Just trying to help out anyway i can.

Have you tried setcpu? That seems to work for me to get it unstuck. Ezoverclock doesn't seem to be working as well may have to delete it.

Mine has lasted almost 12 hours...

Hmm 12 hours is great but the system looks to be off majority of the time.

Did you guys do the initial 8 hour charge before usage?
8 hour charge doesn't apply for us since the tablet fully charges within 3 to 4 hours. What I did was discharged it until the tablet auto shuts down. I then charge it to full. Once charged fully, I use Battery Calibration (root required) to calibrate and reset the data on battery.

Yup i agree, after that fully charged use battery calibration, you will see increase of your battery,i used screen filter too, and i did add some tweak on build prop which i read on this forum,i never thought all this will worked, here is mine after heavy use yesterday and went to sleep around 2 am im still 42% ,

Nice good job! I love screen filter myself. Set it to 30% and its perfect for bedtime viewing. Doesn't upset the wife with the amount of brightness and you can still watch a show or view text easily.

I thought that all of this full-discharge/full-recharge stuff wasn't needed with modern batteries? I know I've never done that and my battery life seems to be great. But, if it may even be better after doing this, maybe I'll give it a shot!

Is this really still needed with modern rechargeable batteries?

Imo, If your getting short battery life or inaccurate readings, the benefits of discharging and Calibrating battery data/stats will help to bring your devices battery back to how it should perform. Sometimes things get out of sync and one sure fire way to get things back into sync is by doing that. You certainly don't need to if your getting great battery life.

Holy sh*t! Got my replacement yesterday. Went home and charged it for 12 hours (over night while its off)...woke up start my tablet and install new firmware and went to work without it....

Just got back from work 12 hours later and dayum! Only lost 6% battery over 12 hr with Wi-Fi on the entire time! That's pretty good standby time!!.

So I had mine fully charged and it was asleep for 2 days 12 hours with wifi set to turn off while asleep and it was 100% dead. This does not seem right as I used to leave my prime for much longer without using it and it would not drain the battery so bad. What do you think?

Hi guys ...
I have left mine over 24hrs (off while travelling - never got anywhere close to 6% off discharge) .. weird ....as I ahev flown heaps of times in last week to ASIA and Aust from USA - all more than 24+ hrs without turning on my TF700!

maybe am the only one this ANAL ATTITUDE ..... doing all these weird things before turning off tablets
> just like PC ( atleast in windows AFIK...sorry not a real windows7 man) , YOU just TURN OFF the PC ; not without first closing all the OPEN SESSIONS eg close browsers, ms office docs etc etc ,,,,,,,,,,,, Granted i dont think its much use turning off WIFI in win 7.... but still if you dont and make MOPST PC's go to sleep or HYBERNATE mode = they ALL ARE STILL NEARLY FULL POWER consumption. TABLETS are lots better - even my crappy ipad1 is a power hog @ sleep !!

This is what I do in my two TRANSFOMERS ........ maybe its juz anal ways I have ,lol. ( pls forgive the teckie terms in relations to these steps)
a)> hit the 'multi window' button at bottom LHSide = and you see ' recent sessions' > juz HOLD and drag to left < it closes them>
b) or DO TASKMANAGER = and close most all of the active sessions .
c) on far RHSide = you have the "STATUS" displays ( not sure of the teckie terms for this area = win7 = system tray )
Hold anbd DRAG to left and you will close any sessions and or apps here also ((( i even UNMOUNT the SD cards))
d) here you can also CLOSE/ SHUT OFF > wireless , dongles etc and I also drag the 'screen brighntess' to lowest level!!

Some or most of these tips = I kinda learned myself as a am used to TRAVELLING A LOT (min 100K F Flyer miles a year) and BATTERY LIFE on planes trains and automobiles are still @ premium !! Well ; yes nowadays few aircrafts have the plug-ins but they often do not work etc etc ..........

On my Prime + dock (looks same dock to me as in Tf700T) i dont see any differance in Batery usage or drain. I also use mine(TF700) as a LINUX partition also - and there are lots of LX tools ( linux semaforos tools) so help towards BATTERY LIFE....<yes am still B*in about being robbed by ASUS for sendin me TF201 label'd DOCK as TF700 DOCK !!>

I'll just post these, usage was "normal" mostly Web browsing with an hour of auralux gaming. Stock .26 firmware, unrooted, balanced CPU setting, wifi set to turn off during sleep.

Power on, use it until it's dead--how long?

Many appear to have the TF700 miracle battery that runs longer than the Energizer Bunny but I'm more interested in actual use in one session. When it's fully charged, powered on, and used until the battery is drained, how long did it last? In power save mode, wifi on, GPS and bluetooth off, and brightness at 30-40%, how long can you actually use it doing a mix of things? Does anyone get the advertised 9.5 hours? How about balanced mode?

If you check my screenshots, I got to around 7.5 hours constantly using the tablet. I started to recharge at around 20 percent, so 8-9 hours aren't impossible. The advertised numbers however are video playback only. Generally speaking, these tablets use very little power during playback.

Anandtech.com illustrate it nicely in their review and from my experience the numbers are what I'm getting. here's a link to their battery life tests.

In short: Web browsing 7-8 hours
Video playback: 10 hours
Gaming: 3-4 hours

Some of the post here and amazon, as well as review sites made me believe my original unit had defective battery as I can never get those number; however, the replaced unit has identical battery life. And if we think about it, it make sense what I am getting.

So quickly the number (all are screen ON time with WIFI OFF while in sleep),

Constant WIFI browsing: I lose ~20%/hr so it can only go for 5 hours in balance mode with bluetooth and GPS off. Screen brightness is like minmal to 30%.

Ebook reading or local video play with WIFI on (BUT not really using browser): I lose ~10 %/hr in balance mode. So yes. this will get us 9.5 hours.

Why does this make sense? Well, if we think about what apple did. They have almost doubled (70% increase) in their battery for new iPad when compared to iPad 2 to sustain their battery life. Whereas, the infinity kept same battery as prime. So essentially,

new Ipad has 42 kWh battery, Ipad 2 has 25 kWh battery and Infinity/Prime has 25kWh.

Based on this, it is logical to think that it would be almost impossible to get true 10-11 hours or even 9 hours on Infinity given its higher resolution than iPad 2. If anything, I truly think this was the weakest link of the infinity hardware design in my personal opinion.

I bet they wanted to keep dock compatability and also didn't want to increase device thickness/weight too much. Also those battery numbers are Wh, not kWh (batteries this big would power the device for days )
