And can it be sent back for having one dead pixel??
Of course it can. It's a hardware defect. Even if you couldn't exchange it via retailer, it still falls under warranty. I took it back to a Walmart store and said it had a dead pixel, and they took it back with no further questions.
You'll want to exchange it with the retailer you bought it from. Asus has a policy that I believe says the device must have three or more dead pixels in order to qualify for repair/replacement under warranty. But most retailers will do an exchange for just one.

Walmart and their dead pixels :D, yeah walmart has a good exchange policy. When I bought my 42" tv it had one single dead pixel that pretty much nobody could see except me and my OCD. They exchanged it really fast.

OK tonight I think I have time to try and do the factory reset that everyone is suggesting I try to solve the constant lag issues.

I just want to make sure I'm doing it the proper way.

I see in settings under backup & reset, an option to reset the tablet (Asus TF300T).

Can some one just say yeah or brag on doing it that way?

Hopefully I will get an answer within 30 minutes and I can get started.

I already did a full backup.

Thanks

all memory is merged on these newer tablets or android operating system. this isn't a phone that only has limited memory for apps. therefore moving apps to SD was needed. I have over 60 games and emulators, 14 movies, and hundreds of photos stored on my internal memory on prime. I still have a good amount of free space left. SD card really is to transfer files or to store movies, music. and large file size high Res photos. those are the things that will take up the most memory. Only some games take up hundreds of megabytes. there are no apps that big. I'd rather store movies and music on the memory card, where they can still be accessed from with no lag. there is no need to store apps on SD card. now it might be possible to store some app data on external memory card. but I think with tablets its different. I think there are some apps that'll allow you to do that or enable that. but you can run risk of issues with games n such. not sure.

as for the browser, try a reboot or soft reset. try using a different browser. stock browser sux anyways. I use Opera Mobile and its the closest to desktop web serving experience. loads up faster than any other browser and scrolling is very smooth n fluid on it. plus its the only browser that'll let you upload files from your device just like a PC browser. Quick ICS browser is another good one, along with ICS+ browser. I'd say those are easily the top 3 browsers for android tablets right now.

its just his personal opinion. plenty of people posted their device basically replaces their laptop. you could always remote desktop for any heavy duty stuff. don't feed into those reviews so much. you be the decider on what your tablet can or can't do. That reviewer even admitted to being biased before even using the device. so review only reflects that viewpoint.

Is this your first tablet or something?
There are plenty of apps that take up that much space. Like Sygic or any GPS App that downloads maps. Not being able to move to your SD Card is a deal breaker, I have several TF300T's that I just got this past week, they are all almost out of space so I purchased a handful of 32GB SD Cards, if I can't use this with the SD Card for Application Data, these are all going back. They will be completely useless with in a couple of days from now!

Seriously what RETARD! Would decide that hey we don't need any extra storage space on a 16GB Base system. I thought they were idiots shooting them selves in the foot making users jump through hoops to UnRoot them. But this is beyond moronic!

nordis,
I think it's a problem with ICS, not Asus

Hello to all!

Well, I'm a couple of days late in posting this message.

I finally finished doing the recommended 'factory reset' to see if that will fix the lags in the launcher and in the browsers!

Well, with only a few days of running; after doing the factory reset, I'm here to report that I feel totally stupid and apologize to everyone that I ever doubted that doing the factory reset would fix the issue!

It appears to have done exactly that!

Everything is running (so far) perfectly fine and actually a little more that fine!

The stock browser is flying like a rocket now! Actually, all the browsers are running up to speed and what I thought they should run like when I first opened the box.

I haven't even gotten one 'wait or cancel' message within the built in stock launcher!

I have had some hiccups in Google's Play Market app, but I think that was because I was searching for more apps, while I was in the middle of downloading an upgrade of an app.

The speaker sound is a tad better, but I still do need to use Volume+ (the best booster),

https://play.google.com/store/apps/...51bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5URVNULmFuZHJvaWQubHZoIl0.

This app is by Meltus.

I am slowly putting back all my widgets and apps that I had on it before, and seeing if the TF300T has any lag issues because of a particular app. But so far, it's working as it should.

I honestly did not believe that doing a factory reset was going to solve these issues. I had even tried to 'cleared all the system caches', which I assumed should have done the trick, but it really took the factory reset to get the desired results and now this machine is a dream!

I apologize to everyone and anyone for ever doubting it would work! (Even if I did not outright say I wasn't a believer).

I'm just curious as to what the factory reset did or what is so different about it that fixed all those issues. It should have been just clearing the two main system caches that I would have assumed would fix these issues.

Could it be that a factory reset, did some kind of disk (ok memory) re-format?

Anyway, now that I have it running good, maybe I can move forward and attempt to root the device so I can have some of my favorite apps and functions working again.

Again, thank you to all the smart people around here!

Your work and input are great appreciated by me and the group as a whole!

Rob

Hi all,

I just read on another website that Asus put out an update to ICS.

It includes the new 'face to unlock' feature.

I haven't really tried to see if it was available for the TF300T, so I thought I'd ask here and see if anyone knows anything about this update?

Is this for the TF300T or another version of the Asus tablets?

Thanks!

Rob

So would you recommend that I do a factory reset straight after buying it?
Thanks

Hi all,

I'm sorry to have to ask this. I'm having trouble with searching for that last post on rooting the TF300T. Seems I'm now almost forced into it, from one of the apps I need.

I know you've posted the link for me before, but I guess something is wrong with my internet tonight and search is going very slow, I've even trying to look at every page. And will continue to do so until I find it.

But can some please be kind and post me a link to the post that list the latest version on how to root the TF300T, please!

And I guess Asus hasn't posted the rom info needed yet, to do custom roms either, is this considered a longer that usual wait?

Thanks

Rob

Here you go. If you don't need to downgrade, skip that part. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645029
Thanks, a very special thanks! I just had surgery 'down below' so this will make it easier for me.

Unfortunately, I am on the latest version.

So I guess I have to be extra careful.

BTW, will I have to do this when we get upgraded? I read in some of the earlier posts, before the latest root procedure, that the root won't stick under certain conditions?

Thanks again!

Rob

PS Is there a way to make that link a sticky?

Every time we get a OTA the root will break. That's why we use Voodoo OTA RootKeeper, once you have upgraded the firmware you will need to run this app again to restore root. At least this has been working from .17 to .26 and .26 to .29

asus t101 root to gain access to move apps to sd

I found in a page somewhere an easier way to root this tablet, but, can I move my apps then, will I gain access to do that? mine is 16gb as you now, and now I only have 9 left, and have just like 12 games, no music and videos at all. when I had my acer iconia I can do it with no trouble. why I sell it for this one....

Ok one last question before I start this root thing.

I just finished getting everything setup exactly the way I want.

Doing the procedures to root, I'm going to have to do the setup all over again.

Since I can't yet put clockwork on the tablet, what else can I use to backup the tablet so I can do a restore to get back everything looking the same as I have it now.

Is it even possible?

If so, what should I use to do this backup with?

Thanks!
