Can't side load any apps. The install button doesn't work.

Do you use a screen dimmer app or something of that nature? If so disable it then your install button should come back! Not my fix but I read it somewhere...... Hope this helps.....

I know this is silly, but I miss the swipe effects on the lock screen. That was also taken away from my Note 10.1 2014 during an update some time ago. But on a positive note, mobile Hotspot is working now, but that could be due to our change to the new 10gb shared plan.

Samsung's TTS makes it sound pitiful, even if you use Google's HD TTS.

BTW, if you go to the TTS settings in the menu, you can download Samsung's HD version.

Agree that Samsung tts is pitiful, but Google tts, which came pre-installed on the Note 1 & 2, and for whatever reason did not make it onto the Note 3, sounds much better than Samsung's offering. I use Google Maps frequently and grew accustom to the map lady's voice. I did try IVONA tts and others, and was almost to the point of rooting just to delete the hideous Samsung voice and replace it with Google tts, then it came available on Play. Nice to have that option back, I guess its all about preference. :good:

I noticed that the lockscreen widgets only work if you don't have a security lock on. it's pretty lame in my opinion because I have to sacrifice being vulnerable just to have a quick flashlight since the "volume up-to-flashlight" option isn't available.

My tethering and Hotspots have been working since day one AND I do not have the 10GB family share plan. I have the 2GB plan.

I think this patch fixed some lag issues I was having and some performance issues. That was about all.

I am interested to know if the Sview works for none official samsung covers. I want to buy a Spigen Sview or a Siedo Sview.

EDIT: I forgot the wifi signal every where has been super increased. My wifi has always been 17% in the living room of my house... now we are at 80%. AND it is consistant like that on every wifi I use.... work, parents store, home, church and Starbucks. One thing I notice is that ATT hotspots connect with no issue.

same here don't trust the announcement anymore and planning now to move to windows phone and getting nokia lumia 1520
I just came from a 1520 and the only way I would go back would be if there were OFFICIAL Google apps (YouTube and play music mainly) the 3rd party apps sucks and if Google updates the code apple and android get the update but it breaks the 3rd party windows phone apps for literally weeks until the dev updates the app. I love windows phone but can't deal with that.

So far things are ok, I like the transparent notification bar and the icons that go along with that. The tweaks to the font look clean. I no longer have problems with the GPS signal, which is a good thing as I use it daily with Waze. I haven't noticed the issues with the TTS as I have been using the Samsung HD voice, I think it sounds pretty good for a synthetic voice.

I'm not a fan of how they have taken away the ongoing notifications section of the notification shade. I liked the differentiation between the ongoing and the dismissable ones. The biggest drawback is the loss of the ability to write anything to the external SD card. I guess they have adopted Google's standard as it pertains to external storage. So I basically have 32 GB of storage that I can't easily use now, it wouldn't be a big deal but I keep a lot of music on there to avoid stream my data plan away.

I'm thinking that it may be time to root once there is a solution for root available.

Issues with Update

On my stock but heavily loaded Note 3, it is now less responsive. The boot takes a bit longer and if I don't put in my passcode it can go blank and cannot revive it. Also, some of my widgets like the Steps widget don't always update. Because I do have to have security enabled I am not able to benefit from the lock screen widget functionality nor any of the after-market lock screens (cannot disable the main lock screen). Lastly, what happened to ART as was not that the way to use less RAM? I don't see the option to enable it and I do see there is one for download and run as an apk in one of the other Note 3 Forums (but no one has tried it yet). Finally, with the prior incremental update the lock on saving to an SD card on my 32 Gb Note 3 is really very annoying and upsetting. Now, simple things take multiple steps. Cannot save from browser downloads or pictures directly to SD Card.

So far, have not seen any benefit except for the GPS fix which I seemed to be able to deal with (even though I use Strava, MapMyRide) and some other fitness apps.

If I had my vote, I would go back to the prior update and stop there. Just me?

Browser Bar is no longer part of the Settings menu. I always disable that crap and in MJ5 and NB2 it was still in the settings menu, so if you click it it just force closed.

I'm not sure if I just feel that way, but turning on the screen from standby takes longer than before. Sometimes almost 2 seconds.

Lol... Kit Kat is so awesome!!

Said no one ever!

I'll stick to 4.3, I got way more feature anyway.
And a completely customizeable status bar to suit my mood :)

I know the Rom is alliance but, what theme and icon pack?
There's no theme per say. Its one I did in the ROM control. Nothing was flashed. I'm still building the update, but v5 should be out in a few days. Its gonna have Alliance Manager. Think TMobile Theme Chooser, but you make your own.

My screen rotation appear to be lagging by 4-5 seconds. Anyone else have this issue?

The audio output is louder and cleaner. The pure white status icons are boring. I haven't run into any problems with the sdcard - poweramp still plays music off it just fine.

Always have been stock not rooted.I don't know if I did something in the settings but with KK, 2 slow clicks on the home button no longer brings up the annoying Magazine app. No matter what I tried before in the Jellybean, I couldn't get rid of the Magazine when I did 2 slow clicks.

I have the "Home2 Shortcut" installed for both Jellybean & kk

I had the same exact issue, factory reset fixed it.

My phone, which is primarily used for podcasts streamed over bluetooth and phone calls, would initially boot and be responsive, 30 seconds after the boot, the screen would turn off and be completely unresponsive for several minutes, then over the course of the day / night have occasional spouts of unresponsiveness. In addition, I experienced heavy bouts of stuttering audio via the bluetooth.

Did a factory reset and everything has been hunky dory.
