Well speaking from being a former part of the Alltel/AT&T merger....

I see Verizon gaining thousands of new users. The whole merger was sloppy, a real pain in my arse. No transparency, terrible communication when I had questions, and the numerous setback for the transition actually made it cheaper for me to pay my ETF with Alltel, start a new contract with Verizon, and pick of a fascinate then to stay and wait.

AT&T is really disconnected from their customers and I'm sorry but this is a huge loss if AT&T attempts to merge the two companies. :(

Kind of funny seeing the T-mobile commercials poke fun at AT&T now.....

T-Mobile Fan here.

I'll most likely be joining the Verizon family, but I'm still deciding over the Thunderbolt or the Fascinate. I love Galaxy S phones, but the Thunderbolt is newer + by HTC.... I'll wait a bit.

If you're gonna switch now is a good time, while you can get a good deal on the t-bolt. The thunderbolt is definately better than the fascinate if you are coming from a different carrier.

If this goes through there will be only 3 nation wide Carriers. This won't be good for 'us'. Even less incentive for the carriers to be competitive. As it is they practically have a license to steal (along with Credit card companies and Broadband providers).

Absolutely nothing good, if anything, will come of this merger except a whole bunch of consumer raping. And to make matters worse, these 3 companies are so big no new company stands a chance.
