Overall it looks like a worthy upgrade from an AT&T Captivate if your not bothered about losing a little bit of the great Galaxy S audio quality. If it is available this coming Sunday as the supposed leaks suggest I'll be first in line to buy it!

It's good to see that it keeps the the same size and dimensions as the intl. version but looking at the battery in the review pic it seems as if it contains the same battery + NFC components type battery as its Korean cousin which brings to question is there an official 2000mah battery with the NFC components or another 3rd party larger battery with NFC components available for purchase?

I agree that it's going to be an excellent upgrade from the Captivate...

However, that particular review is of very poor quality. Clearly the reviewer is not on top of the current state of phone development, and further, clearly he/she doesn't understand the inner workings of a modern smartphone.

While it's for the international variant, not the AT&T variant, here is an excellent and VERY in-depth review of the i9100 to keep your beak wet until the AT&T version drops.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined

My personal highlights over the Galaxy S1:
- Exynos CPU & Mali GPU Performance
- Bigger and better SuperAMOLED+ screen (w/ RGB and not Pentile sub-pixel layout)
- Slightly better battery life & slightly lighter than the GS1
- NFC in the AT&T/Sprint variants
- HSPA+ support
- 1 GB of RAM (aka, double the Captivate)
- Discreet SirfStar IV GPS chip
- HDMI-Out and MHL support
- 8 MP Camera w/ Flash (apparently takes excellent low-light shots too)
- Front Facing Camera
- 5GHz WiFi support and WiFi Direct support
- Bluetooth HighSpeed
- USB Host Mode support

And as far as I can tell, the only real downside over the GS1 is the lower quality audio codec chip, and possibly some more EM noise on the headphone port. May be a deal-breaker for some, but not for me! :)

I agree the Anandtech review is the most in depth review I've seen of the international version, I see the ubergizmo review as more of a laymans review and more directly suited for those that may be coming off a Captivate Galaxy S and looking to move up to a Galaxy S II. While I love my still very capable Captivate my battery life is decreasing and limitations are slowly creeping on it so it's time to move on and the Galaxy S II with a nice 2000mah battery swap will keep up with the times and stresses I'll put on it for the next year until I'd get my next upgrade.

My minds been made up since February to get this phone, AT&T just needs to release it already!!! The only thing that will sway me is if the Nexus Prime comes out for purchase on AT&T before the end of October/early November - I'll return the Galaxy S II with the quickness and bite the restocking fee bullet to get the Prime if its anything like the rumors suggest, that's the only other phone I see that's going to rival and one up the Galaxy S 2 series at the moment.

IF only the Note would come to the US let alone to AT&T,having had a couple of Samsung feature phones along with the Samsung BlackJack I've come to realize that Samsung always bring their phones late to the party in the US and with less care taken for updates - I remember when it took the Blackjack well over a year to finally release Windows Mobile 6.0 and I had to go to the Samsung Website to get it, by that time I ha been thru several 6.0 leaks on that phone then it was passed down to my spouse and I had already moved on to the HTC Touch Pro. Knock on wood ICS gets to US carriers by Valentines day but I wouldn't be surprised if St. Patrick's day rolls around first. I'd do a backflip if it came before new years but nonetheless I'll end up getting this phone cause it's just that good.

The guy used Neocore to benchmark SGS2 and thinks Tegra 2 is faster. Even if you overclocked MALI 400 to 2,139,098Ghz, it will still be around 60fps. I hope he doesn't benchmark SGS3 with Neocore, it might be same 60fps lock.

Is this thing really coming out in 2 days? I have seen no advertising or anything...
No one really knows...

Plus there's the fact that AT&T's LTE network is supposedly (at least according to the CFO) going to be launched the same day the Galaxy S2 was supposed to drop. And I kinda doubt AT&T will launch their fancy new network the same day they are launching a killer phone on their "old" 4G network.

So that means either the Galaxy S2 isn't likely to be launched that day, or it will in fact be an LTE device. There have been lots of rumors about that, but I really doubt it to be the case. More likely, the LTE network will be announced, and the Galaxy S2 will come either later in the week, or perhaps towards the end of the month.

At any rate, much as I'm looking forward to LTE, I think the GS2 w/ HSPA+ will be more than sufficient for the next year or so. I mean, remember all Verizon's early problems with their LTE network? And who knows how many (or how few) cities will even support AT&T's LTE by the end of the year... And then there's the whole will they/won't they with the T-Mobile merger. That's important too, since as I understand it, AT&T is counting on using a fair bit of T-Mobile's spectrum to deploy additional LTE bands, since as it currently stands, I think they have significantly less 700 MHz spectrum as compared to Verizon. On the other hand, it's also probably easier to deploy LTE on top of a GSM/WCDMA network as opposed to Verizon's old CDMA network...

Really? I called two different local ATT stores and they usually get shipment on Friday(today) before Sunday release. They DIDN'T get any S2's :(

Not according to this, consistent with what I was told:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/sp...08-checked-out-s2-sprint-store-will-pass.html
I'm basing that on this article.

Android Central said:
And just like that, much waiting is for the most part over. The Samsung Galaxy S II is now headed to AT&T. No pricing details for the device have been announced as of yet, but the release date is set for September 18.
