Great...You googled for September 18. And none of them list a source. They are all spreading the same rumor as fact.
-_- You have no idea what they list because I didn't take the time to link them all. Anyway, it also makes perfect sense. Devices always release on Sundays, and they're also releasing the Xperia play and a mid range android device on the same day.

Lol, we will both see.

I was shocked to see that the Sprint version has an LED indicator. It's the one thing (really, the only thing) I don't like about my International SGS II. Yes, I have BLN running since that was incorporated into the hacked kernels, but I'd much prefer a multi-colour LED.

Anyone know if the AT&T version will have it?!?

I just found a source HERE that makes it seem like the author is so sure that the Samsung Galaxy S II will be released tomorrow on September 18th.

I've seen rumors and blogs just reposting the September 18th date like a broken record which seemed just like pure speculation, but this is the first I've seen an article say so explicitly that it will be released tomorrow.

I hope she's right.

The only thing that troubles me a bit is that the AT&T model seems to be built off the Korean model which has a different battery from the international version and includes the NFC component/antenna. IF you flash the international ROM to this phone will NFC still work? I really do want the bigger 2000mah battery but not sure if it will go with the AT&T Galaxy S II, I heard that the pins are arranged different. If anything I'm sure hoping Samsung may offer the bigger battery to the US models.

That article also talks about ICS as an advanced spec which should would be coming October or November. It needs to be more clear about that, because if ICS is released first draft for the GSII phones I'd be very very surprised!

Dude, the spare OEM 1650 mAh battery (EB-L102GBK) that I bought from Samsung is the "Near Field Communications" version, and it fits fine in my I9100, works fine as well. There's no pin difference. The NFC version is a hair thicker and heavier, and of course the labeling is different.

Looking at both right now, I can see why you may think the pins are different. On the NFC version, the "+ -" is not visible on the side with the QR code and model number, and that is the side that's facing out when in the phone. On the "stock" battery, the QR code side is not visible when in the phone.

In other words, looking at both with the QR code visible, on the NFC battery, the contacts are on the right side, and on the non-NFC version, that would place the contacts on the left.

EDIT: I JUST RE-CALLED THE ONE STORE THAT THE LADY ASSURED ME OF THE 18th AND THE LADY I SPOKE TO ASKED THE MANAGER AND THEY SAID IT IS NOT COMING OUT TOMORROW. I ALSO CALLED A BEST BUY SINCE I HEARD THEY WERE GONNA HAVE IT AND THEY SAID NO ALSO. I AM GUESSING IT IS NOT THIS WEEKEND. BETTER BE NEZT SUNDAY OR I AM DONE WITH ATT SOON ENOUGH.

This is what I did yesterday to TRY and find out more info. So NOTT TOO GOOD results with only 1 att store Rep saying yes for sure. But we will see if it is the 18th or not tomorrow.
Okay I am calling MANY ATT stores local to me (at least I have about 18 local stores that I am in the process of calling now. I will continue to update this post whenever I get a chance. I am listing the phone number, whether they say if/when the release date is, whether they say the do/don't have it IN STORE NOW. So far this is the first couple I have called:

EDIT: I called alot of the local att stores and listed them all below. Kind of bummed that none other than 1 said with good confirmation that they hadn't heard of a release yet. Some that say possibly Saturday said that that USUALLY before a phone is released they will get inventory the day before. I had let them know that I had spoken to 611 earlier which told me stores were starting to get stock today for either this Sunday 18th or next Sunday (which was TRUE from my conversation with 611). So I guess ONLY Sunday we will NO FOR SURE one way or another...I had also mentioned what the 1 store told me that they had them. Sorry but I am so excited and upset with the not hearing anything from att.

Thanks that's reassuring! Now to find a 2000mah with the NFC marking.

I spoke to two at&t retailers in the Houston, TX area and they said they don't know when they will get it....one of them said in a few weeks. Spoke to 611, she had no idea when it's coming out.

They rarely know anything. I read several times that people were met with the response of not even knowing what the GSII was. I'm surprised people are even still asking them about anything.

just spoke with the Natick store and the guy said they will have them tomorrow. He was very quick and than hung up. It almost seemed like he had no idea what the phone was and just wanted to get me off the phone.

I agree that it's going to be an excellent upgrade from the Captivate...

However, that particular review is of very poor quality. Clearly the reviewer is not on top of the current state of phone development, and further, clearly he/she doesn't understand the inner workings of a modern smartphone.

While it's for the international variant, not the AT&T variant, here is an excellent and VERY in-depth review of the i9100 to keep your beak wet until the AT&T version drops.

http://www.anandtech.com/show/4686/samsung-galaxy-s-2-international-review-the-best-redefined

My personal highlights over the Galaxy S1:
- Exynos CPU & Mali GPU Performance
- Bigger and better SuperAMOLED+ screen (w/ RGB and not Pentile sub-pixel layout)
- Slightly better battery life & slightly lighter than the GS1
- NFC in the AT&T/Sprint variants
- HSPA+ support
- 1 GB of RAM (aka, double the Captivate)
- Discreet SirfStar IV GPS chip
- HDMI-Out and MHL support
- 8 MP Camera w/ Flash (apparently takes excellent low-light shots too)
- Front Facing Camera
- 5GHz WiFi support and WiFi Direct support
- Bluetooth HighSpeed
- USB Host Mode support

And as far as I can tell, the only real downside over the GS1 is the lower quality audio codec chip, and possibly some more EM noise on the headphone port. May be a deal-breaker for some, but not for me! :)
Where do you figure better battery life even with latest sgsii firmware phone only lasts a little less than a day with little use. I have both phones. In addition audio sucks and gps is faster lock and more accurate in my Sgs I. For these reasons an over 2 day battery life running jpy with speeded, I am back to using that. If anyone wants to buy my Sgs ii 450 plus shipping. It is rooted and running kh3 firmware with speeded kernel.

I don't know what you did with your SGS2, but there is no way in hell the GPS is better on an SGS1.

No.

Way.

In.

Hell.

Audio doesn't suck, it's just not quite as good as the SGS1...fair trade when it does everything else so much better and faster, and battery life is about equal between my SGS and SGS2.

Asked sales guy at Costco and he said that the SGII didn't even get FCC approval yet (he looked it up on his computer) and I also asked an AT&T guy at the store and said maybe next month...

Agreed. My HTC Magic had a better GPS than the SGS!
