Is S-OFF possible anymore with the latest 4.4.2 software on my phone? Will firewater, revone, or rumrunner work? Or do I have to purchase sunshine to get S-OFF? Thanks.

You will have to try firewater and if you get "Whelp this sucks..." message then your next option would be sunshine. It cost you nothing but time to try firewater first or for the small fee use sunshine.

The device is not mine, so I haven't tested it yet. What I've heard is that you have to flash a different ROM (I've heard CM works best) in order to get around the kernel restrictions imposed by HBoot 1.57 and the latest software. I will try this tomorrow and see how it goes.

It works? I can't get s-off yet..

Sent from my HTC One using XDA Free mobile app
their are many threads on getting s-off it all depends on the firmware version / hboot on your phone and the right combination of rom / kernel

if you 4.4.3 hboot 1.56 try ARHD 53 + Bulletproof kernel + Firewater
if your 4.4.2 hboot 1.54 try ARHD 31.1 alone or with bulletproof kernel + Firewater
if your 4.2.2 or 4.1.2 you can use a stock rooted phone with bulletproof kernel + rumrunner or Firewater

I dont see firewater downloadable files anywhere.

For me - the only option to S-off was using Sunshine. Hboot 1.57.

The Sunshine app will tell you if it will work before your plunk down the $$$ to run it. The cost of the app seems high, but then again, how often did I go out and think nothing of spending the same amount on a pizza dinner for me and family easily or whatnot when we could have stayed home and eaten for less so I took then plunge and was glad I did. :)

Manage to S-Off w/RumRunner

My Lord what a fiasco! In the end RumRunner did it but not on 1st try. Could have been the virus protection. Also I was mistaken about the Firewater files as they're NOT S-Off files. Now trying to update my firmware and its another ordeal. Thought it would be easy.

I can say for certain I S-Off'd a couple hours ago with my PC, TWRP 2.07? I did flash back from the 2.08. Numbers may be off a little as I'm borderline fried from this experience. Began with a stock rooted AT&T rom zip and Revone, then tried rumrunner.

It wasn't until I installed InsertCoin (The Christmas package), had shut off all virus protection, rolled back the TWRP and THEN ran RumRunner before it took. Even then it was a long process. Don't know if my HB1.44 was part of the luck or not. Also I didn't have my sim in it either. That may be why I'm hassling with the firmware. Honestly I'm afraid of hitting S-on again by accident.

Sunshine wouldn't work either as I needed a different image. I had an image of a new phone in my head. I opted to unlock my old LG L9 while I fought this battle. If having HB1.57 makes this even more difficult I'd sell the phone.

Once the PC would recognize the phone it wasn't so bad. All the different roms made that a problem too. Along the way the backups etc have me sitting with 1GB open and I know that's not right. I'd like to wipe the whole thing to bare minimum then crank it into an International Developers edition if feasible. Need to mail it to somebody who knows what they're doing.

I wasted over 10 hours trying to get runrunner to work with the configuration below, I was literally up all night until 10AM. Then finally ordered the SUnshine app for $25 and in less than 5 minutes S-Off was achieved. Serves me right I guess for being a cheapskate but even if I make $10 per hour I wasted $100 of lifespan

I'd love to sort out the phone but I don't want to waste your time either. I've not heard of let alone used "teamviewer" so it may be easy or not. No matter which way this goes I thank you for the offer!! :good:

Thanks ... I just flashed the 7.x.401 firmware on my one and the phone is working fine / I'm getting 2 bars LTE and just run speedtest with no problems.

try this
go to your dialer and call *#*#4636#*#* / phone information
whats it default to and change it to GSM/ WCDMA / LTE Auto

I did as you said and it looks like its working great now, 3 bars out of 4 and I live in a concrete house where on 3g I normally get zero bars or 1 bar
