Did not work... Still reads PI39100 MFG and SPL 2.5.XXXX ... and, i could not get into USB flash mode at all. I got to HSPL Screen, turning on phone (Vol + and Vol -), but not USB flash mode (Vol -). Instead of USB flash mode screen (Grey with Blue letterings), I have a black screen with a picture of Windows Phone syncing to a computer and I don't know what that means. But other than that, I have to say this method did not work. And I am stuck having to wait

Help with AT&T Titan

I have network unlocked AT&T HTC TITAN. For the last 3 days, I have been trying to unbrand it using goldcard method with no luck. I tried with two 2GB microsd cards, 3 USB sticks from sandisk and at least 5 single port card readers.

With one card reader, phone went up to “Loading” screen, then after around 5 minute, “No Image Found!” message came up. :(
I read thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744253 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1597837 completely. I followed all the instructions.

I tried to flash following three stock roms
IMG_Eternity_HTC_Europe_1.08.401.06_Radio_16.23.02.09_2_16.24.00.23U_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE
IMG_Eternity_HTC_Europe_1.09.401.02_Radio_16.23.02.09_A_16.24.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE
IMG_Eternity_hTC_Asia_TW_1.10.709.01_Radio_16.23.02.09_A_16.24.00.23_Signed_ETERNITY_RELEASE

My SD card is formatted as FAT32 with allocation unit 4096. I used the goldcard tool and image provided in those links. I renamed the rom file as “ETERIMG.nbh”.
I made a Y cable myself and its working properly. Phone and the card reader are getting power and phone is able to read the SD card.

Whatever I do, after 5-10 minutes of “Loading” screen, I’m getting “No Image Found!” error. :(
Now I’m out of any options. Please help…

Thanks in advance

Not sure if you tried this but if not give this a go, patch the sdcard before copying the stock rom to the sdcard.

Thanks for the reply but I tried that already.
I copied the file and then made the goldcard that didn't work. I made the goldcard first and then copied the file, that also didn't work.
I tried to make goldcard with HxD tool also.
I repartitioned 2GB MicroSD card to 990MB with MiniTool Partition app. I tried the SDFormatter tool.
Every time phone is going to "Loading" then sometimes it will show "No Image Found!" immediately, Sometimes after 5-10 minutes.

I have no idea what's wrong :(

I did it :)
I tried with a new card reader. First I debranded phone to European ROM by Goldcard method, then I flashed DFT SPL 2.5 by goldcard method. then HSPL and now I have successfully installed custom rom :)

I believe sandisk 2GB microSD cards are working properly with goldcard. so if anyone who uses sandisk 2GB microSD card but still can't do goldcard, problem could be with the card reader. At least, in my case, card reader was the problem. I tried 6 card readers and only one worked. I believe debranding at&t Titan with european rom is important.
even though I didn't get much help directly from friends, I really thank for all the friends who commented in many threads related to HTC Titan, because I read all the post related to flashing and it helped me a lot.

since nothing worked, I contacted at&t. They were nice enough to replace my phone, I told them that there were wi-fi issues along with calling problems. My new Titan will be delivered in a couple of days and I just want to ask what should I do immediately to avoid my problem again? step by step on how to debrand my at&t Titan first then downgrade SPL to flash HSPL then a custom rom? Thanks again in advanced

checking debrand

I am on an att titan with spl 1.10...., so before I jump into the fun, I wanted to double check what the phone will say/do once it is debranded. Does someone have a picture of what a debranded phone will boot up to? Would I be able to use the phone after the debranding procedure, but before loading a custom rom?

It seems like people are getting stuck after installing hspl without properly debranding, so I just wanted to double check that a phone is properly debranded.

Yes sir. Your phone will boot with no problem. In settings is the only place you'll notice any difference. Model will be x310e instead of x310a. And of course your spl will be changed too. But the main thing is, your titan is now ready for hspl and new custom Rom! Happy flashing

Follow the steps in this thread for a flawless debranding / HSPL'd Titan:

Good for you man! Now you can start from scratch like I did. Just follow these steps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744253 and you shouldn't have any problems. Be sure to read it all the way through first, then make it happen. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Thanks for the answer GreenGrenadez! :good: Another inquiry about updating our phones, and I asked it in someone else's post too... What is the difference between radio 16.xx... vs 17.xx... Have you tried/noticed a difference? I use the phone here in Kentucky and Wa state, and my provider is T-mobile so I'm at the slower 2G speeds. (although some places in Wa are at 3G since allocating the 1900Mhz freq from AT&T)

Your phone will not boot with 17.xx (at least mine didn't)! Others have discussed signal differences between them and not sure how they can run both but mine didn't run 17 at all, however, after putting 16.xx back on, everything was still the same.

Crappy signal strength is the only reason I tried the 17.xx. So, having said that, there isn't any danger in trying it after your custom rom is all set up because if you try and it fails, just go back to 16.xx and your phone hasn't been reset or changed at all.

If you tried the SPL / HSPL on your AT&T Titan first (before debranding) then you are stuck without a fix (as of yet).

I was in the same boat and my Titan had a memory issue and caller's sound quality was horrible, so I got a warranty exchange from AT&T. When my new one arrived, I de-branded it first with the EUR ROM, then flashed SPL / HSPL and now I absolutely LOVE my Titan (prior, I HATED it). Now (after 6 replacements & no AT&T locks) I have a custom ROM and everything is unlocked and no caller sound quality / memory problems.
Did you use the goldcard method?

That's a good question! I have an old TMobile card at home. When I get there, I'll give it a try. I know it will not let me dial out because the account is closed, but if it is carrier unlocked, it won't throw a sim error. I'll report back.

But will I need to do the goldcard method to update it to spl 2.5? that's what I really want to know. Nevermind... I answered my own question. I guess I'll try out that goldcard method.

i got my replacement phone and the first thing i did was flash euro stock rom on the fresh titan. it worked fine. but when i tried to flash 2.5 spl, it didnt work. error 397 i think. i tried glodcard method. managed to "update compelete" but nothing. no change to spl. so, i gave up and flashed us cing stock rom. my titan right now reads 1.10XXX spl... scared to mess with it anymore and get stuck again. any aadvice what i should do? thanks again. but i'm just happy i'm not stuck with pi13900 MFG which sucked.

Where did you get your Y-cable from? I've been looking for it on ebay and no luck. All I see is 2 male -1 female.

Hi someeh, I suggest just buying the 2 male/female usb cable and then making it yourself, it really wasnt too difficult. Plus, the wires were only like $2.50 each if you buy it online... I checked at local stores like bestbuy and radioshack, they were selling for like $20 each! I just got mine from amazon, but even monoprice.com has got them going for cheap.

It took me about 20 minutes to strip and connect the wires. They are really thin, but once stripped, I just connected them and covered with electrical tape. Good luck!
