I just notice this 2 days ago. While driving using google maps, I suddenly/randomly get "GPS Signal Lost". The only way to fix it is toggle off/on gps. I read it's a google map issue. Can anyone confirm this? Anyone else having the same issue?
I also have this issue, and do the same thing, toggle gps off/on, as you to get the lock back. According to a poster a few posts up, the issue is not just limited to Google Maps.

I've called AT&T about it. The rep and a more senior person claimed that they've not heard of this problem, which seems surprising to me.

My guess is that it's a software issue since you can toggle the gps on again immediately and get an instant lock.

Posting to say I've got the exact same issue. Sometimes it won't tell me "GPS signal lost", the map will just stop updating. A quick toggle of the GPS fixes that too. I'm running stock MJ5.

Hey guys I have posted a few times about my issues with the phone and have been through 2 previous note 3's. The current phone works flawless. You can verify that your phone has the issue if your phone's gps drops from changing signal coverage. This can be forced by using the command *#*#4636#*#* on stock.

Also I read one post that the N900A/T#4-4 version of the radio does not have this issue. Just open the battery compartment door and look just right of the sim card placement. Mine is currently the 4-4 version of the radio hardware and I have no issues.

Your phone should have no issues dropping signal unless you are being blocked by a building or something. It shouldn't drop randomly. If it does you should switch it out via warranty service. Otherwise it may be a while be for samsung/att recognize this as a valid issue and submits a software update.

It's a hardware problem, not software, not Google maps. GPS signal can be lost e.g. going through a tunnel. Maps knows to relock the signal e.g. coming out of the tunnel. You don't have to toggle the GPS antenna like you need to with a faulty antenna.

It still could be a software issue on a deeper level than an app. If it occurs no matter which app is used, it could be at the OS layer, or it could be at the hardware abstraction layer. Both of which could be fixed with software updates.

Exact same problem here - happes with Copilot as well. I tried GPS Keeper (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.webmajstr.gpson) and it doesn't help either.

Instead of having to toggle on/off I've also discovered that if I hit home button then reopen maps again, it will work again and then stop randomly.

Sometimes it would work fine for half hour, sometimes just for few seconds.

I did not notice this the first time I used the phone on 30 minutes drive but did a long drive this weekend and it drove me nuts.

For those that is happening, do you guys notice the GPS icon disapear from notification bar? For me it goes away when I lose GPS and when I reopen google maps to trigger it, it shows up again while it's working.

It seems like for some reason the device can't keep the GPS on - not that it's losing the fix, but more like GPS turns off/goes into standby for some reason and reopening the maps application triggers it to wake it up.

With Copilot application every 1 minute or so the application itself realizes it's not getting GPS so it does something that wakes it up and it works again for rando duration - rinse and repeat.

I have tried clearing cashe of the maps application and that seems to do the trick for a little while, but it eventually encounters the same problem again. I'm betting that it is software problem.

I ran into the same problem on Saturday night. I didn't get a signal lost message, but the map just stopped updating.

Stock MJ5.

Since I have changed my rom to xnote, my gps issue went away. Been more than a week using gps heavily with no problem.

Good to know, thanks for sharing.

On a side note, I'm not going to have any free time to go through the rooting and safestrap and ROM flashing for another month or so. Has anyone found a solution working for us non-rooted folks?

I have had success using the pro version of "GPS STATUS" from the Play Store. I would expect the free version would perform the same. Would anyone know how to keep this app running in Multi-Window while I use Navigation without root privileges? Or better yet a pop-up window. Since the app doesn't natively support Multi-Window I suppose rooting is necessary.

So did you have the GPS signal problem or did you have the inaccurate GPS problem? Have to ask because people are using this thread for both issues, with the latter issue being discussed the last few pages of the thread. I too have the GPS signal lost issue that's initiated when the phone goes from 4G LTE to just 4G AND also when you plug or unplug the charger. When the charger is plugged or unplugged Maps will lose the lock, GPS icon on notification bar goes away but Maps will not say aloud GPS signal lost, but the GPS signal is lost. I'm trying to find out if it's a software or hardware problem as I've swapped my phone a few times, don't think AT&T would be so generous anymore. Plus I'd rather not have to exchange the phone and go through the process of backing up and restoring everything again.

And before anybody brings up the 1 year warranty from AT&T, you guys do realize that they're sending you a refurbished phone right? I don't know why everybody is so gung-ho about going that route. If all this turns out to be a software problem, you've just traded in your non-refurbished phone for a refurbished one. It's the equivalent of buying a brand new car and driving it off the lot but then something goes wrong with it (not mechanically) but the dealer exchanges a salvaged title car for you, would you be so eager to take that?

I'm having lost signal issues as will. What's odd is with the note 2 is when I didn't have any cell coverage the gps still worked. It's almost like the note 2 had a independent signal for just the gps.

I had to get two replacements before my Note 3 GPS worked properly. It would work fine but constantly drop its GPS connection.
It's fine now. It's a pain in a** having to troubleshoot and get replacements. Let alone multiple replacements. But that device was too expensive to not have it working properly.

I had both issues of losing signal and sometimes shows inaccurate location. The quickest fix is just turn off and turn back on gps like others had mentioned. But now since I have been switched to xnote, my gps signal is strong and the only issue I have is sometimes Google map won't recognize where I am heading when I am in the middle of traffic Junction but as soon as I start moving it recognize right away and show correct route. It's been solid and for about a month with no problems.

You realize GPS signal is to connect to the GPS satellite array correct? So not only does it have a separate signal its a separate chip, in all phones.

I understand that but for some reason the ones in the note 3 is dependent of cell tower signals according to all the comments. So technically the note 3 doesn't have a independent chip for gps. It's based off of tower triangulation. Reason I come to this conclusion, same as many other members is when I lose cell signal my gps stops working. On my note 2 it still worked even without cell signal.

Sorry to keep asking but... do you remember if those signal losses occurred when switching from 4G LTE to 4G or 3G or vice versa? And do you recall at all if there was any instance of plugging/unplugging the charger causing GPS signal to be lost? As I don't have GPS inaccuracies at all, I just lose signal with those 2 very specific instances. My GPS is spot on, only under those 2 circumstances do I lose GPS signal. But there are others like me with the exact same problem and then there are people with the glitchy inaccurate GPS, so I think they're 2 separate problems.
