I'm not sure if it is, but I believe I read somewhere that root needs to be done in order to get it to work.Actually, I am rooted. I can't imagine owning a non-rooted phone.
What I'm asking is is there a fix that requires being rooted?
Coming from where the wind begins.....
No you do not. Please refer to this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612757So let me get thus straight. You have to flash a custom rom to get this gps issue fixed?
Coming from where the wind begins.....
If you want to void your warranty you can do that....You can just root, install safe strap, and flash the fix. That's what I did and everything is working great here.

I agree it should work properly, but I need my phone to work and won't wait on AT&T. We've got great developers here who've fixed the issue and made it super easy to do!If you want to void your warranty you can do that....
What aobut the people who bought this phone legitimately and want it to work properly? For those people, please file a complaint with FCC, sign the petition, and make your voice heard on the customer forums.
Yikes... lol.Now I say unprofessional only because from a person who is a Manager and if I heard her talking in this manner to a customer she would be written up.
They're just priming the pump for taking till mid summer to release 4.4... We're doing this for YOU the customer... trust us, we're Ma Bell!A quote from a chat with AT&T about the issue
Zain Beckstead: It looks like AT&T is actually very aware of this issue, and is currently working with Samsung to analyze the situation and identify the solution. As soon as the software update is available it will be pushed to you. The reason the Kitkat update is taking so long, is so we can provide a fix for the GPS situation
just to add my 0.02. even their warranty replacements have the gps issue. I have had two replacements both had the same issue. I didn't even root the replacements. 100% stock.the major GPS issue on stock roms is not that no satellites are seeing it is more that GPS connection is lost in the middle of navigating porn apparently no reason the reason that LTE changes to 4G or your charger is plugged in that's what everybody is complaining about
Lol that was all by voice while driving sorry if hard to undersyand. May b ill fix later
