Just curious, why aren't you guys using Softcard yet? You get $1 back for every purchase that is at least $1 with Serve card. This promotion is until end of this year. Up to $50 each month.
I use mine at McDonalds almost every day for a large coffee which is $1.

A while back when I was using the OP's S5 Rom Update 4, it worked sort of okay with NFC payment but there were some wonky-ness with NFC, so I went back to stock NC2.

[ROM][N9005] Galaxy S5 Stock ROM - Final v22.0 - Clean, Fast and Stable
Hey guys, gals I've been running this rom all day and so far so good the developer fixed mms issues. NFC seems to work with NFC.zip. APN setting need to be changed but I have had no fc's or any other issues. Make sure you have wifi available if you decide to flash.
I'm confused how this rom worked for you without bricking your phone. It says it comes with "lean kernel" and we can't use anything but the stock kernel. Lol

Thanks for helping. But after I install this, it's stuck in boot screen. So I guess it's not compatible with that rom.

This fixes nfc but kills cellular.

I tried the one you sent me via email (small 3mb file), and that doesn't break cellular, and nfc works again. But it still force closes when I go to advanced settings in nfc menu. Also, Softcard doesn't work even after being able to log in and punch pin numbers.

Anybody, have better ideas?
@hp79
ok I installed s5

here is what I pulled from AT&T s5 that turned NFC on and with no FC, but I have no way to test ( where do you find tags?)

next I will try the Softcard, I have to first learn what it is and how to use it..

Does your AT&T Softcard NFC pay system work?
I had no issues with Wifi, so what is it fixing?

I have no idea how the kernel part works, or why it just works without modifying anything in the installation script.

I haven't tried the NFC/WIFI fix posted by nemesisgx yet.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, here's the instructions if anyone don't need NFC payment:
Make sure you are already on NC2, with Safestrap.

Download ROM from N9005 thread.
As of 10/17/2014, download the v20, and also v22 OTA.

Download NFC FIX posted by @carl1961 one post up. This will enable NFC, but you still won't be able to use NFC pay with Softcard. You can signup and log-in, and as soon as you enter 4 digit pin, it'll say "We're sorry, but Softcard isn't available on your phone."
Another problem is a "forced close" if you go Settings -> NFC -> menu key -> Advanced settings -> FC. Then there's a popup and I should be able to select SE SIM card for NFC, but that doesn't work. I think this is why Softcard doesn't work. OP's first post about S5 ROM Update 4 doesn't have these problems. So NFC payment works with that ROM, but not this one even after NFC fix.

Boot into recovery, wipe everything except sdcard if you have one in there, then install v20 first, then immediately install v22. Then install NFC FIX. Reboot.

After 10 seconds, you'll hear a short music, and wait for a while to finish setup. It'll welcome you with a English(UK) screen by default.

APN settings need to be manually added, as shown in the first post of this thread by OP.
I just added these settings in Edit -> access point:
Code:
Name: ATT Phone
APN: phone
MMSC: http://mmsc.mobile.att.net
Multimedia message proxy: proxy.mobile.att.net
Multimedia message port: 80
APN type: internet + mms
Bearer: LTE
Mobile virtual network operator type: None

a far as the NFC turning on and exchanging data to another device

can someone upload a complete ROM S5 that works fine with us Note 3 At&t? thanks
Hey bud we have work with what we have the dev no longer supports the rom. Update v4 works well, the international rom is a work in progress maybe we can put the pieces together and get it going.

I was going to post a cleaned up instruction if NFC was fixed and Softcard worked, but since Softcard didn't work, I'm not adding that part. I haven't tried the NFC/WIFI fix posted by nemesisgx yet.

Super. Thanks man. I have never left NFC on my phone. I'd either freeze or delete it. Do I need to flash the fix still?

I flashed this and it's working great so far. Whatever you do, don't try to change SELinux to permissive. I got stuck in a boot loop...

I think I'll leave it alone for now since there isn't really a benefit to changing SELinux to permissive at this time.

@Face_Plant

1. Root is not installed correct, so you need to install the UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.14.zip
(root file explorer complained and I could not see /data stuff)

2. as just a NOTE: and my own opinion,

by SELinux Permissive script not running correctly may mean init.d scripts get started late or wrong, so maybe ARCHIDROID INITD support has a issue.

Permissive for this ROM?

Hi Carl,

awesome job on the Permissive for the 900X S5 ROM. Quick question - I tried the file you attached with this Rom (AT&T S5 Rom Update 4), and it doesn't seem to work. Any clues? I installed the initd file, the SU file, the initd enabler, and the Permissive script (in that order). Worked on the 900X S5 Rom, but not on this one.

Thanks,

@Face_Plant
