I doubt that anyone with real experience in developing truly stable root methods want to mess with this phone. My reasoning is because no one has come up with stable root for an AT&T Note device since at least before the Note 4. I had the Note 4, the Note 5, and now the 8. None of them had stable root.

I've been flashing ROMs since the first Galaxy phone (Captivate), and honestly I lost interest in rooting and flashing because these new phones seem to be awesome without it. Plus, root will break some of the very things I need to work, like payment apps.

So, in my opinion, don't hold your breath for root or ROMs for this phone.

I'd throw $50 in the pot and would be happy with just stable root. BL unlock would be a plus but honestly I've always had a BL locked phone so I haven't experienced any of the other features of having it unlocked. I've been thinking of doing the samfail method but the battery only going to 80 percent keeps me away. I've been intertaning getting a phone case with the built in battery to make up for it but all the ones I've seen are to bulky, I'd love to find one with only a 2000mah battery so it wouldn't be so big.

I'm curious ... I have been reading this thread about a "stable" root method ------- Do you not consider the SamFail root over in the main Note 8 thread not a stable root method?

I mean if you are talking about root like on Exynos devices with an unlocked bootloader ,, I don't think that will ever happen

Stable may not be the correct word, i am meaning root without the battery issues, or camera issues etc. Root like it used to be

Im working on a full root method. Im seeing what this guy was on to. My thoughts are that once I can get to s-boot terminal it should be roses.

The current root method requires an outdated bootloader one that fails to filter out electric noise on aux in my truck when charging also the battery max stuck @ 80% fail along with the fact that it doesn't work at all friendly with my non-standard carrier total wireless. So I'm motivated for a root solution that also comes with a bootloader unlock.
Have you made any progress on this.

AT&T's position with respect to these phones is insanely frustrating.

It's a real shame the handsets are so great. I keep coming back, even as I want to stab someone in the eye because I can't root them.

If you want go to Sammobile and download latest and flash with Odin or use Samfirm tool and do the same.

Reminds me of when I had my note 4 on Verizon and we all thought it wouldn't happen but one day it just kinda did lol someone is always working silently
That's what was said about the s7 edge only had root from crappy leaked eng boot image that would make your phone run like crap. That's why I switched to a McLaren one plus 6t
