Looks like someone found an easy way to unlike the SG IIYes, please update..
AT&T will not unlock device unless you are an AT&T customer..
There is a wait period before new phones are eligible for unlock, and when it does, AT&T customers who have been with them for 90+ days can request an unlock code.
Just tell them you are going overseas and want to use your phone temporarily with a local carrier there.
note: turn around time can take up to a week.

the devs removed the bloatware which is a very good thing. As for how it was done, im not a dev and as far as I know they could have cast a spell or something. lolGreat thread and thanks to jivy26 for his hard work.
I flashed stock+root (as per method 2 in the OP) and then flashed CWM. Works great. Strangely, after installing the rooted stock ROM, many of the AT&T apps didn't work (myAT&T, AT&T Code Scanner, Yellow Pages, Family Map). Even stranger, after installing CWM, they disappeared altogether. This is great -- can anyone comment if they are seeing the same thing and/or explain how it was done?
Thanks!

No, he indicated he used my root+stock package, so that shouldn't have happened.the devs removed the bloatware which is a very good thing. As for how it was done, im not a dev and as far as I know they could have cast a spell or something. lol
Well if the sgs2 att variant is anything like the captivate, TiBu should be able uninstall the bloatware from att. I will need to root to get my apps that I have from my cappy to move over to the sgs 2 when I get it sometime next week..No, he indicated he used my root+stock package, so that shouldn't have happened.
It's not debloated stock + root, it's stock+root.
However the AT&T apps are uninstallable somehow, so maybe something strange happened in jivy26's dump in regards to them. (My package is based on a system dump jivy26 obtained) I never tested as the first thing I did was remove them.
BTW all of the AT&T apps that were uninstallable are also available on the Market.
Much of the bloatware is uninstallable in the GS2. But not all - even after removing it there are a ton of background services.Well if the sgs2 att variant is anything like the captivate, TiBu should be able uninstall the bloatware from att. try the home key to select insteadhey..i'm trying to make a nandroid backup/wipe data through CWM 5.0.2.3.. i can scroll through the menu just fine..but if i press the power button, the menu goes away and leaves just a screen of the hat...then if i press the power again, the menu comes back..it never selects anything...how do i fix that?
Yup, that'll do it.I want to root my phone, but keep stock, all my settings, data etc.
This way if I need to return it or get a warranty replacement I can just delete superuser and that other file ant ATT will never know I rooted it, is option 2 what I need?
(I want to root so I can restore app data from old phone, WiFi tethering and remove ATT bloatware.)
