So I'm building a custom dash mount for an 8" tablet, and I'd love to use my v520 G Pad X 8.0, but I'll probably grab a Nexus if the future is looking dim on this current setup.. So just wondering, would you guys assume that rooting the AT&T variant is probably never gonna happen..??

Thanks..

I am curious about this as well. This would be the first LG device I have owned that will not have been rooted. I probably wouldn't have bothered with the deal from ATT if I had suspected it would never be rooted.

I do not know. Is there a way to check? My v520 has a cracked digitizer, so I would be more than happy to be a Guinea pig.
Try to issue this command in adb termknal (adb reboot bootloader) if it take you to the fastboot mode then it can be unlocked

Unfortunately, all it did was reboot back into android. SO I am assuming root won't be coming this way. Doubt I'll even repair this since I can't root it.

I am assuming an OEM unlock code is needed?

One additional thing: I can enable OEM Unlock in the Developer Options

Has there been any action on getting this to root? I bought this not realizing the V521 was different. What a bummer so far!

Nope, nothing..
Makes me wonder if the DirtySanta method for lg v20s could possibly work or be made to work. Unfortunately, that is WAY out of my scope of abilities and me2151 has ceased all further work on DirtySanta since everything he had done was on a laptop that was stolen from him (IIRC). :(
