Hiya Forum.
I'm a new user of the Atoto S8 Ultima, with a Honda Civic 2011/12 EX GT 2.2L Diesel. (UK Model)
In general, I'm pretty happy with the unit. I fitted it myself, mostly because my local fitter wanted to charge me £1000 to fit a Pioneer unit that didn't have offline SatNav capability.
I'm replacing one of these:
It cost be about £330 for my S8 Ultima, plus £200 in various fitting brackets/harnesses, etc.
My favourite part is the ability to use DS Audio, to have my music collection (And art) synced to the device. (Though I haven't quite worked out how to give it the right permissions to save locally)
I have the speakers, radio, Wifi, SatNav, Reversing Camera all working, including amplifier. I had the phone working nicely with the built in Honda Bluetooth....... However .. I broke it...
There are still a few things to tweak. I wanted to ask the group:
It appeared that my phone was still connecting to the Honda Bluetooth for the first week I had it fitted, but then I (Stupidly) unpaired to test something else, and no longer have the ability to pair it. Has anyone yet managed to connect the device to the built in bluetooth functionality in their car?
I managed to get some of the Steering Wheel Controls working , but not the buttons that relate to the phone. They may be related to the inability to re-pair phones to the Bluetooth Car Kit.
I had expected I would be able to use the SIM card that I have put in the stereo to make calls, but the manual says you can't make calls or text with it. Surely that's the point of the SIM. Why would that be blocked, and is there anyway around that? I am currently trialling 'Softphone' for dialling over VOIP, to get round that issue. Has anyone got a better method?
I have a feeling I have the speakers plugged into the wrong sockets, but that one is on me.
I had them right, then took everything apart and rushed it back together and don't think I put them back together right.
For harnesses, I used the incartec SWC-23-229-NAV and 27-269.
I found the 'amplifier power' wasn't connected in the ATOTO ISO 8 pin socket, so I took a pin out of the spare harness, wired it to the amplifier wire, and pushed it into the ISO 8 pin socket I was using, and that worked well. I have manually spliced the reversing camera power wire, and powered antenna wire.
I have one spare wire for 'Phone' that I don't know what to connect it to. I suspect that is the cause of my problems with the SWC buttons for the phone, but not sure if it's the reason for not being able to use the Bluetooth Kit.
Any advice or encouragement would be gratefully received !
