I might just end up doing that
but there is a less expensive option however it requires superskills and a super delicate hand is to purchase a digitser for 45-65 buck and taking your phone all apart like i aint kidding a [email protected]!#!t
load of headach if your like me and
think "i just need a bigger hammer aproach to fixing things" then its better
to let the chineze kids do the assembelly and we just by one from the store.

Definitely glad i was able to warranty mine out. I've been through 2 Atrix's (on my 3rd) with the same exact issue on both.

Heres my thread with a pic to describe the screen issue
Clicky

Phone goes out of warranty on the 22nd of Feb, so hopefully this new one will last until my contract is up in July...

Glad you had a warranty. . . I'm not so lucky!
So I had replaced the screen with the "wrong screen" and at first it was just the very top that didn't work to begin with, I figured I'll just have to live with it and put aside some extra cash on my next paycheck to buy a new Atrix.
Then the middle exactly like erick161's stopped working. I figured I'd again just work around it, I could still text, call, email, facebook, and all. THEN one night all of my capacitive buttons stopped working!! Now to "end" any application I have to reboot the phone -.-
Ended up contacting the Chinese seller about the issue, they offered to send another screen, BUT it would take more than 10 days to get here -.- They ended up giving me a refund thankfully.
Now I'm on the verge of dropping the Atrix and buying a different phone when I get my paycheck.
I just haven't figured out which one. . .
I don't think I want to to stay with the Atrix 4g because of these screen issues, also it's getting outdated, and I don't own any of the docks so I'm not tied to this phone with any accessories.
I do want to stay because of how smoothly it runs, it never gets hung up on anything and I've experienced minimal lag (only when using GoLauncher) , it's battery life is great. Running Neutrino gt I got an average of 2 days off a battery, and I talk on the phone often, and am texting quite a bit, and using facebook messenger all day.
So if there's a phone out there without these screen issues, a rom as good and simple as Neutrino, and has EXCELLENT battery life like I've described ... I'll take it. (4g is preferred)

Ok, i understand that this thread is 6 months old, but i have to put my two cents in as far as the screen shutting off during a call goes... there is a little rubber piece that you might have forgotten to replace or fit/position correctly back on when putting the phone back together. i had the same issue, and realized i had a little rubber piece that fits only where the proximity sensor goes.

Hey guys, im glad that this thread is active now because i'm having an issue.

about a week ago, part of my screen became unresponsive. It is about a quarter of the way down from the top of the screen and stretches out to the whole screen length, basically a strip of the screen. The responsiveness comes and goes, and its quite annoying. also, sometimes my phone spazzes out and starts kind of glitching and doing random things, and would only cease when I put my phone to sleep and turned it back on.

now, backround on my phone, its over a year old so no warranty, completely stock, nothing done to it and its the At&t version.

My guess is that it is the digitizer, which pisses me off because this problem started basically right after my warranty expired. I do not trust myself to fix it on my own, so I would have to send it in to motorola.

How much would this cost, or does anyone have any other suggestions for me to fix it?

thank you

My fingerprint scanner doesnt seem to be working, dont know if it has to do with the same problem. just thought I would mention it

It does seem like the digitizer since its all completely stock and whatnot. I would try seeing around the area if you know any techies, or someone that seems trustworthy to fix it. Ive never sent anything in myself, for any product., i would also check to see if it's heat /overheating related.

Im pretty sure it isnt heat related, because when I put even a little pressure on the area of the screen where the digitizer is (top left) it starts spazzing out. sometimes it goes away, then the problem will come back.

I have no idea where to get this repaired besides sending it to motorola. I was thinking of doing Geek Squad, even though I didnt buy the phone from best buy and do not have geek squad protection, but im not sure how much it will cost.

Motorola told me it is a hardware issue, after sending in my second phone. I tried every rom, none fixed the problem.
Mine started with digitizer problems, then went to the sleep of death, then constant rebooting.

So yours did get worse? thats my worry.

My upgrade is in early january, I really want to hold off until then with this phone rather than spending a 100 bucks to get it fixed

My phone got the same problem. Since I'm not in the US warranty here sucks so I guess I'll either spend almost $100 to repair it (since the earpiece went bust too) or just buy a new one for $260.

Decisions decisions...

I had digitizer problems and went to ATT to try to just get an insurance claim and get the Atrix 2 but the deductible was $200! So I sent it back for warranty work last week and I'm still waiting. I had an unlocked bootloader and haven't heard anything so it must be okay.

Check their website. You can enter your RMA number, and it will tell you up to date status.

Hi guys.

So, I had an atrix for some time until it was stolen from me. Bought another one on ebay for 130 bucks.
Turned it on, sim-unlocked and started using it. Then I noticed the faulty touchscreen. Two stripes around the top and one around the bottom that wouldn't register my touches. If I squeeze the logo portion of the screen, it registers random touches around the bottom or the center of the screen.

The vendor offered me to send the phone back for full refund, but it's not a good option since I'm in Brazil and I bought the phone from ebay. It would took me lots of money and time to get my refund.

Any advices on what sould I do? What would you guys do? Should I get a partial refund for thep rice of a digitizer and replace it myself? anyone did that?

Thanks!

ps.: the phone is bootloader unlocked, all stock.

EDIT: ended up sending the phone back to the seller.. lets hope everything goes well. thanks

I'm not sure where to post this because my issue is a bit different than most. This is my touchscreen chip that only has 2 finger touch and does not work with the 3.1.1 kernel. It is sopposed to be Atmel mXT224 on it. My original one was and it worked so just a heads up to people looking to replace your screen..so far this one is not supported.
