Downgrade

can someone provide a safe way to downgrade from this rom to gb/cm rom? I wan't to switch back to webtop 2. I'm afraid I might brick the phone if I flash an old rom.
any help is really appreciated.
Thanks

There is no safe or unsafe way. Just flash it like you would flash any other ROM (that includes all relevant wipes of course).
I saw some people brick their phone while downgrading from ICS and some one had posted some special script for downgrading (will post link once I find it). Not sure if its applicable for this rom.
Also, do I flash rom & kernel since I upgraded my kernel or just rom?
thanks

Oh boy.
When did you ever see a ROM that doesn't come with a kernel??
It seems you're making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

Yeah? Some ppl brick their phone eh? Tell that to me, my phone, and the countless number of ppl who have not done what you claim. Fyi, i just downgraded from AtrICS 2.0 to stock GB last night. No issues. How to downgrade? Nandroid backup, fruitcake, sbf. GB uses a different kernel and will be in one of the downgrading methods i named (kernel in boot.img)

Easy man....

Don't worry, if you make a backup, there shouldn't be any problems downgrading to gb... I switch very often between gb, jb and allí un between without a hitch. Justo remember todo do a nandroid backup before any changes.

Really?

Is this true? Does everything work flawlessly? Camera, data, wifi, fingerprint scanner? I am using epinters CM10.1 unofficial rom now. Is it better for those who have used both?

Where did you read that??

Nope. Camera on widescreen resolution gives you purple noise on the bottom/right side. Data comes and goes. Wifi sonetimes (usually when deep sleep) just goes off. Fingerprint scanner is the most secure way to have a random reboot. All without mentioning the random lockscreen corruption, which also affects the notifications panel, random freezes where nothing works until it decides to come back and all the other bugs that came with the rom originally.

I am trying this rom as I type here. Now it is weird that you can get different results from a new installation, although it's the very same files.
Now I think this kernel is still in need of improvement. It should fit tegra and the hardware structure of Olympus. There's a few glitches and you can see them a few seconds after the boot loader kicks in, the moto logo changes resolution, sometimes color (turns blue). Random Reboots are not uncommon.
It is very slow are start or at reboot but then becomes a peach. I think ics is the best rom out there and offers a lot of options.
I wish it was a little better though.
Things to improve should be:
Kernel (it is still alpha)
Performance
Ramfix-I still think you can gain another 100mb of ram - to match the ram amount of GB.
Battery life.
Heating.
These packages could be included into one big installable zip as a rom by someone who knows what to do and want to help others. Something like a fresh rom backup.
I could offer my backup if I had not been experiencing the problems above.
It is worth saying though that I tried the rom without installing the additional kernel. Some problems disappear but new others pop up to bother.
In any case, webtop 3 is far from webtop 2 performance and GUI wise.
It is worth mentioning as well that I tried to root this from with the one click included and it caused a lot of problems. Home kept crashing and the phone fell back to a vicious bootloop-obviously fixed with a new installation. I am keeping it unrooted for a while to try things out and then root it later if I need it.
And people, if you have unlocked the bootloader correctly and installed cwm, you shouldn't worry about bricking your phone. Unless you install some bogus zips that wipe your bootloader too.
Just put the files in your SD card and from your recovery mode wipe everything you see. Dalvik, preinstall, data, system, everything. Insert SD card with the files and install them all (install zip from SD card.) You shouldn't have any problems. Just keep your old rom if you want to revert back to GB.
Oh, my camera happens to work fine, although I've got to admit that atrix's camera is a crappy one with any program, even with factory settings. It's just crap materials used by motorola, so don't expect any miracles. But I have noticed a physical noise when you press the shutter button in ics.
Thanks uploader.

Guess what, all those complaints are common with the 3.1.10 kernel. We're still working on it. We don't need the install procedure repeated, this has been around for quite some time and we fully know the procedure.

I am not telling you how to install. Just telling people who are worried about bricking their phones what I have done and how safe this procedure is. Simply surprised that very few people seem to impart this kind of security feeling. People could even ask about the safety of somebody else's files and those who have used them could share the experience. It is not happening but what is happening very often and that should concern you while you try to keep the thread as clean as you can, is the quotes that are making this thread have 4 pages instead of one. See? I've apparently written the same long message (+a useless procedure) twice.
More on the topic though, is there a way we can get our hands into a good kernel? Could kernels from other similar releases be used with this rom? Has anybody tried that?

I think that after 2 1/2 yrs of that ROM being around (thats when the leak happened), concerns of bricking are gone. As far as kernels go, there is an updated 3.1.10 kernel. Its from roughly 17-18 days ago. Under development there's a thread krystian has been updating in regards to kernel development. I recommend you look there for info on the kernel updates and stuff.

Ok now I'm trying the latest kernel on since the last message.
It is a lot better than the alpha kernel.
There's still bugs though.
Battery drain. + Battery not charging up to full (stops at 90%).
Ram is 724mb as opposed to ~816 on GB.
The confusing thing is that although the rom is not rooted some apps seem to be able to gain root access.
A few improvements here and there and it will be the perfect rom.
Overclocking would be great.
