The Atrix, even though it doesn't even have an "official" release date, already has pre-orders for all 3 variations of Otterbox's cases. I'm just amazed at this lol. My previous phone (Nexus S) had a release date set for about a month before it came out and never got a pre-order for otterbox's cases, nor are their any now available for it. See for yourselves: http://www.otterbox.com/motorola-atrix-cases/motorola-atrix-cases,default,sc.html

I love the commuter, it looks the best out of the 3, but I just love the extra protection with the defender. I've had a Commuter & a Defender for my Nexus One & a Commuter for my HTC HD2. The Commuter was great, but didn't give the same level or feeling of protection the Defender does.

My concern with the Defender series case is that it looks like the fingerprint reader is blocked on that case. That might be a deal breaker for that case for me. I submitted a question to otterbox asking about whether the reader if functional with that case but it hasn't shown on the site yet. Might want to go with the commuter case if that is true, though that one doesn't have the clip on it..decisions decisions. Also, definitely concerned that the docks wont work with the cases.

They finally answered the question about the defender series case, stating that there is an opening over the fingerprint reader on the case, I assume they updated the design if that is the case, and that the images on the site are not up to date. Though, he could have been mistaken, i dunno. we'll see soon enough.

just 'pre-ordered' a defender case from mobilecityonline.com for 34.99 free shipping when preordered. pretty good price.

some folks seem to have had free otterboxes included in the preorder from att, but i did not.

I purchased the case at the AT&T store today and there is no covering over the fingerprint reader. In fact, there is no covering over the camera or the speaker at the bottom. Therefore, you have constant access to the fingerprint reader and don't even need to be flipping a rubbery cover. Other ports are covered though (headphone, usb/hdmi, volume) in typical otterbox fashion. Hope this helps.

How did you purchase it before it was released?

I stopped by an AT&T store to see if they had any standard docks before release. They didn't but they did have a small selection of cases, including the Otterbox Defender. This was yesterday. Saturday-Feb 19th.

Wow that site has great prices for the otter box cases, do you have any previous experience with them? How fast is their shipping? I'm wondering if it would be worth the savings/wait or if I should just stop by an AT&T store since it sounds like they are already available there.

Yeah, I walked in to AT&T to see if they had any Atrices on display yet, and when they said no I asked if they had any cases for it.

Walked out with an Otterbox Defender for 53 bucks.

I think I ****** it up already though because I pulled the plastic cover thing off the front of it thinking it was removable. I guess the gorilla glass will have to do!
