Coming from Stock Oreo on the Mi A1 I have noticed several networking bugs.

1. There are custom roms out there, I've yet to figure out which ones, but several are messing with the persist partition, and changing the WiFi Mac address, at least this is my understanding, as it relates to the persist partition, and I have had my WiFi Mac address changed, when flashing some custom roms.

2. In regards to the Mobile data icons in the status bar on the last 4 roms I flashed, FireHound, LOS 15.1, AospExtended 5.6, DotOS, all had this problem, but for some reason DotOS didn't fluctuate nearly as bad as the other 3 roms...

3. In Stock Nougat & Oreo, if the phone stays in one area, the bars don't move, if they do, they rarely move. On these custom roms, the bars are constantly fluctuating up and down literally within 3-5 seconds, I'm not joking. As example, In 3 seconds it is half full, 3-5 seconds later it's empty, another 3-5 seconds a quarter full, and it just keeps cycling around, of course not in the same order, but it constantly changes every few seconds.

4. Network & Internet > Data Usage - In the Stock Roms, when using Dual Sim cards, you can turn both 'mobile data' on, with these custom roms, it has been only allowing one to be turned on at a time.

5. Network & Internet > SIM Cards - The names appear different in the custom roms, instead of SIM 1 & SIM 2 they read Card 1 & Card 2. Next when you tap a sim, the popup, under SIM name nothing appears, and the Carrier shows Unknow.

6. When getting a voice mail, the notification will say; Voicemail - Sim Card, slot:0 - Never seen any slot:0 or any numbers appear like this in the Stock Roms.

Custom roms aren't always 100% stable and that's the nature of what we do here on xda. Developers create work, for fun and for free and share with the rest of us. And we can try different things and see what works best for us. And not everyone will have the same experience either, what works for me may not work for you and vise versa. Also, we're responsible for what we flash on our devices, no one else. There's always a chance for things to go wrong too. Anyone not able to handle that risk, shouldn't mess with their device.

But threads like this one don't help anyone fix anything. Bugs should be reported in the rom threads or wherever the developer requests bugs be reported. Most will probably not see this thread here. And logs are a good thing to submit to them as well, whenever possible. How will bugs get ironed out if the users don't supply the devs with detailed accounts of their issues? And logs! This is a development site, and we work together to develop. This definitely isn't a department store. Roms are members personal works, not retail items.

Again, this thread is not helping anyone. I suggest you report bugs where they should be reported. You can also create your own roms if you aren't happy with what's been graciously offered here. There's lots of resources on XDA to help you learn. You could stick to stock too if it works for you.

:good:

Thread closed. Thanks!
