Hi everyone,

In August I received an OTA for my SM-G955W. I installed it and immediately after it rebooted I got an “Invalid SIM” error message.

I took my SIM card out and put it in another phone and it worked perfectly. I put another SIM in my phone and it gave the same error. So obviously the problem was with the phone, not the SIM.

There is a Reddit thread dealing with this exact problem.

I managed to get my phone working by flashing an older modem version using ODIN as was suggested in the Reddit thread (posted above). But now I cannot get any future OTA updates because it says “Your current software version issue supported”. Presumably that is because I have a mismatched modem file flashed.

Is there any way out of this?

Is there any way to get LineageOS on this device? It is a Snapdragon processor and I think the unofficial LinageOS builds only work on the Exynos models. Or is that incorrect?

Thanks,
The Fish
