Auto-Brightness

So, at night my brightness is set to the lowest (in a dark room). The problem I have is when I turn the phone on from being locked and screen off...it goes to Iris scanning screen which is about 20% brighter...it stays at that brightness even after the unlock. The phone then takes about 10 seconds to adjust to the darkness.

Is my sensor messed up? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?

I was wondering the same thing also. When I select auto brightness on or off nothing happens. Stays at same brightness Leavell. I come from note5 and when you selected auto brightness on or off you could tell the difference. On brightness would dim and react to the lighting, off it would be bright. I hope this isn't a hardware issue.

Weird solution (for me)

I had the same problem (auto-brightness) and I did factory reset and even sent back to Samsung (they did another reset). But end of the day I figured out it was a VERY WEIRD situation for me - believe it or not, I am using Spigen Liquid Armor case and that is the culprit.

I remove the case and it works perfectly. I put it back on, it stops working. I tried on my friend's Note 8, exactly the same issue. It is just a rubber case - I cannot explain at all.

IF you happen to use a Spigen case - give that a try.
