Just got my Xoom yesterday. After setup, it automatically began to download apps from the market (the apps on my phone started to download to my xoom from the market). I have since rooted and now after I complete setup, no auto-download from the market. Honestly, the apps are no big deal, didn't do a back up because I can always just download the apps one-by-one. This is just a question to which I wish to know the answer (so please dont reply with "do a backup and you wouldnt have this problem"). My phone is rooted and when I get new roms for it, sometimes the market auto-installs my apps and sometimes not. Why? What is it about the roms that auto-download your apps from the market?

As part of the setup, you can choose to 'backup to Google servers'.
Then, once complete, if the ROM is compatible (I dunno what exactly is part of these checks), it will download your backup from Google.
