Malware on download host 08/12/2011

Gents, as of today the download host site as given in msg#1:

Download file here V4.2:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NXU82L12

Apparently generates a malware screen claiming to be Microsoft Security Essentials detecting and cleaning a malware activity on the computer. I say apparently bogus because it opens an MSIE browser page to another web site, and the real MSE tool, launched separately, does not see any immediate threat. (I've got it doing a full system scan but that can take hours.)

Much as I'd like to try the process?

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

At least today, here and now, the file host seems to be pushing malware.

(I'm just looking for a way to purge SuperOneClick and the superuser and get my phone back to stock, or at least, unlocked and rooted "clean" instead of stuck with SOC on it.)

", if you still think SOC work in GB just recommend you to read a little bit"
Oh, you mean, like read all the expert posts that so highly recommended it way back when I did try it?
Or do you have any real expert advice to contribute, like how to really get rid of it?
Amazing how many pros there are, who have no answers and make no attempt to help.

Okay, I attempted to unlock the bootloader, and after it told me to turn off the phone and enter Fastboot mode, it gave me a very quick "Failed to boot" screen, it shut off, and now it won't even turn on.

EDIT: Nevermind, phone decided to work for some reason.

But I have a question.

Now that it is unlocked, it wiped all my data for the phone. I don't mind that, but Superuser is no longer there. Do I need to reroot the phone?

For those who just purchased new atrix with 4.5.91

For those of you who just purchased your atrix and noticed that it came stock with the 4.5.91/2.3.4 already stocked I just want to say this works. You will get the failed to boot error but thanks to this setup you will be fine. One thing so you don't panic like I did make sure you pull batter for 30 seconds and when you power on you may need to hold vol up button to engage the rsd or fastboot protocol. Not sure why but that worked or me hope this helps. Thanks

so that i clearly understand

i've read a majority of the 52 pages and have some of my concerns answered however, i have a few questions unresolved.

i recently purchased my atrix and got the OTA update to 2.3.4 / 4.5.91. instead of unlocking the BL, i figured i'd wait and instead have only rooted the device. i've got superuser 3.0 beta 3 / elite installed.

this script seems to be the best logical choice to follow to unlock; correct? will step 2 conflict with what i already have?

Another noob in training. I have a rooted Atrix 4G w/ 2.2.2 / 4.183 and want to update to 2.3.4 and retain or regain root. Do I need to unroot first, update and then run the script? I have CWM Rom Mgr from the Market installed but don't really know how to use it yet. In order to accomplish this how would that change the order of the steps? Thanks -gs67

Lightswtich? Rj?

Any of you guys who lost Superuser. Please, I've been trying to get rid of it and SOC unroot doesn't work. Can you tell me (in little words that can't be misunderstood<G>) exactly what you did, and if your phone is FULLY functional with no issues afterwards?

ATT right? (YOU HAVE TO BE SURE YOU HAVE AN ATT ATRIX)

if you want to preserve your data go ahead and unlock 1.83 (option 2) then apply ota and the re run script chosing agains option 2
Option 2 says tenfar CWM if you have a different one what will happen - or - does the script install the tenfar CWM? If it doesn't should you uninstall the one you have and find the tenfar CWM and install and then choose 2 / do the OTA update / the proceed as above? Thanks -gs67

Frozen in the OTA -HELP

I was in 1.8.3 rooted and locked with my ATT Atrix, then

1- I ran the option 1 of the main menu and I succesfully unlocked the bl.
2- I ran the option 2 of the main menu and I succesfully rooted and CWM.
3- I installed the SU without problem. I installed Titanium Backup and I restored everything. Until now everything was perfect.
4- Then I downloaded the 2.3.4 OTA and tried to install it.

The installation of the update starts, but it stops at more or less the 30%, it appear chinese letters and it freezes.
I can start again after removing the battery. The phone starts well but soon it tries to install the update again and it freezes in the same point.

Please, mramirezusa, I need your help to get out of this.
