SUCCESS!

Good news, ya'll! By sheer luck, I was able to get my phone into Fastboot and finish the bootloader unlock process. I then proceeded to root and install CWM with this script. Thanks for all the help everyone provided!

So you start the phone with your vol button down, and then you hit vol up after it displays fastboot on the screen?

What was the trick? I'm in the same boat, can't get it into fastboot. From the menu, I can select with the volume keys, but it will not activate with the power button. If I power on with vol down, the green led flashes, then nothing. Crap...I had a bad feeling.

Well, looking better now. FASTBOOT would only select from the menu by pressing vol up, pwr had no effect. Also, the unique ID appears to be case sensitive. Been sitting on the Motorola boot screen for a few minutes now, how long should the initial boot after unlock take?

EDIT: Battery pull and it appears all is well!

Hey guys, finally got it to work. I don't know if it would help anybody but here was my problem. The phone being soft bricked if I tried to turn it on holding the vol button down it would try to go to fastboot but it would turn off in tenths of a second. I had to take the battery out and reboot normally which it was going to the screen with the choices first one being RSD.

I had five seconds to press vol down to go to the second choice which was fastboot and then vol up to select it. My next problem was running windows 7 x64. Going through the third choice fixing the error from soft brick my machine it would pop up a new dos window and it would display the id there I suppose but that window it would pop again only for less than a second not having the time to read the number.
Yesterday I used my desktop which runs on XP and it went through no problem. Unlocked the bootloader and then run option 2 for rooting etc.
Thank you to all of you guys posting solutions to the problems.

need a big help i try to do it and now i get this massage fail to boot2
starting fastboot and its stuck
After flashing the bootloader the phone will reboot. Hold down vol down until it says fastboot then press vol up. Phone will say starting fastboot protocol support or some such. Reconnect phone to pc via usb and continue. The unlock commands then get run. All is well after that.

When I am on step 5, I choose option 3 (2.3.4). The white box comes up where the RSD runs, but my phone just continues to say "starting RSD protocol support" and nothing happens. I let it sit there for 15 minutes today and it didn't do anything. Can anyone help? I'm a noob obviously.

Ok I have read through most of this thread and am trying to build up the courage to try this. However, I have seen some people having some issue which makes me a bit apprehensive..
I am on 4.5.91 OTA (GB)
I know that I will most likely softbrick until I can run the "fix" script.

However, if something goes wrong can I sbf a 4.5.91 build and return back to the state that I am currently in..

Do I need to flash 1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf?? Or is that only after I am unlocked?

I just want to have a backup plan in case things dont turn out as planned.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Best route to take:
1. Full charge battery 100%
2. Windows PC, preferred XP or VISTA 32 bits, any 32 bits is the stable way to do it, 64bit work but you need extra work
3. Follow carefully the script instructions for your AT&T phone will be option 1 the option 3. You can run the script without connecting the phone to do a dry test every time it said waiting device just press CTRL+X and the N to continue
4. 1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf file is safe to rsd with 5.3.1 after or before unlocked, a because you already in 2.3.4/ 4.5.91 is the only official moto sbf you can rsd now

Could I suggest that you add having a "Fully Charged Battery" to your Prerequisites?
