Confirm it works on ATT Atrix running 4.5.141

Ran this on my ATT Atrix 4G running 4.5.141 to unlock the bootloader and install ROM Manager CWM. Worked like a charm! Got the failed to boot error, and followed the instructions. Wound up with a working, unlocked phone. Thanks!!

I just got a new atrix 4g (android 2.3.6/B# 4.5.141). After reading the the most recent posts, I'm fairly confident that I can pull this off, even though the tutorial is outdated.
So basically, install atrix drivers, run script, if soft boot, then run fix, then install a recovery, then a rom. Right?

clarification

Can I get a few more specifics? I am new to this phone but I too am going to try this on 4.5.141. I may just be overly cautious so please bare with me.
I have already rooted my phone.

Is this for unlocking the bootloader only?

Someone mentioned installing the atrix drivers, I assume that means the usb drivers on your pc. True?

I see where there is mention of installing a different ROM manager. How do I do that and what do you think is the best one? If I install the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery will this interfere with any of this?

I also see that several people say they experienced a failure to boot or a soft boot error and ran the "fix". Maybe I am blind, but what/where is the fix?

Finally, I would love to hear what your favorite ROMs are and why.
I tend to experience a lot of interface hang ups and slowness with the current factory setup, which is why I want to try this.

Thank you for your patience

I used this method on my girlfriend's Atrix with 4.5.141 on Saturday and it went smoothly. The only problem right now is the internal storage cannot be accessed via USB. I can see it with an app like ES File Manager or Astro, but nothing will pull up on my computer even after removing the Moto drivers. Any thoughts?

Fortunately, I backed up everything prior to rooting and was able to reload it to a new microsd I bought, but her gallery, etc looks like she has two of everything.

Edit: I seem to have fixed the problem. Flashing back to CM7 has really helped a lot of things.

OP Link invalid

I've just got my New ATT 2.3.6 Build 4.5.141
I'm going to unlock the BL using this method in order to flash Neutrino EE
However the Megaupload link from the OP doesn't work : Download file here V4.2:

Can anyone share a mirror or upload a Dropbox link or something? It would be much appreciated and wish me luck :)

Alternative

Is this possible to use with linux? If so, any chance you guys can walk me through it?
Even if you do get it running, it would make sense to set up windows in a virtual machine and run it from there. You will need it for RSDlite and in general allmost all modding techniques are released initially on the win platform. I personally run everything from a win vm on macosx.

I'm running 2.3.6 and I got the bootloader unlocked and rooted on the first try. I'm a total noob and flashing the .sbf was super easy. I had no problems and this seems to be the only method that works (and I tried them all).
That's awesome news as I'm just gearing up to do the same to my Atrix running 2.3.6 Was your build number 4.5.141?

considering the *, can I root 4.5.91 with option 2, whithout unlock bootloader?
or, for those with 4.5.91 unlock bootloader is a mandatory for root?

Thank you.

quote:

Prerequisite:
1. ATT ATRIX 4G device
2. Windows PC
4. No matter what version you have 1.26 / 1.57 / 1.83 / 4.5.91 (*)
5. Proper USB drivers Installed (You can found them at: http://www.motorola.com/Support/US-E...arging-Drivers)
6. A little of Patience

PROS:
* You will ended with an unlock bootloader (BL)

Procedure:
1. Download the attached file
2. Unzip the file inside of a new folder on your hard disk
3. Now is time to run the magic, go to the folder you just unzip the files in and double click or run "MAIN" file
4. A new windows DOS box will show up and just follow the procedure!
5. Flashing pudding part will take a little longer so be patience and let the magic do their work
6. At the end of the process your phone will reboot automatic.
7. Enjoy it!

Thanks to the2dCour for pudding sbf
Thanks to Tenfar for CWM (I prefer it due to the ABD option in recovery! NICE)
Thanks t0dbld for Mobile Hotspot patch

(*) Some users with 4.5.91 will need to run "fix" file to recover from a softbrick after the first attempt
(*) It seemd the new 2.3.4/4.5.91 pudding do a wipe after flash it, so have a backup just in case (I tested 1.83 and at least this preserve the data)

4.5.141 Unlock confirmed

I was unable to run the script as described in OP as the Main.bat file didn't respond to my inputs for some reason. So instead I just read the bat file and executed the commands myself from the cmd prompt. As expected, I got the boot error after and then followed the instructions and pretty soon I was home safe. I installed Rom Racer (I chose an ugly green color :p) and then Neutrino 2.7 and am very happy that I did all this within an hour of getting my phone. whew!

Btw are there any good call recording apps for the Atrix? I used MIUI on my Defy and that has in built call-rec. Any suggestions?

"Btw are there any good call recording apps for the Atrix?"
On the US-market models you can't run any* because someone (AT&T or Moto) has removed the supporting code from the Android library. Supposedly the new Taiwanese (?) or Chinese models have this support built back in, so any call recording app will work on them.
In your case, Vodophone & Iceland? I don't think anyone has posted on that combination. Try something like Total Recorder and if it doesn't work--none of them will, you've probably got the same lockout that the US models have.

* "any" meaning real call recorders, that don't require speakerphone kludges or calling into a third number bridge and paying per minute, or some other half-baked workaround.
