Yes, i have the malasyk or the hal9k, i don't remember exactly, but it is rooted.
For the bluetooth you are good.
Before you install the PX5, update the MCU otherwise the card wont work.

KBT MTCE V3.30 is the latest i think.

So, i should flash the v3.30 MTCE KBT MCU, and then install the new board?
I can't find anything about KBT v3.30 on the mega thread.

It is rooted because thats the way Malaysk does it.

Install v.3.30 whether you upgrade or not - its always best to run the latest MCU, remember to go into factory settings and press "export" this will get your mcu.cfg, flash this with the new MCU, its a file that memorises your MCU settings.

I might be a jerk, but can you point me in the right direction from where i can download the v.3.30?
I can't find it.

PX5 2+32 Android 6 for sale

No more lag!

Finally we have an option to upgrade our sluggish RK3188 limited by the 1gb of ram.

The following seller has the chip to upgrade from PX3 to PX5 for $40:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Update-to-Eight-Core-CPU-with-2G-RAM-and-32GB-ROM/32797389313.html

Specifications:

RK3188 PX3
Android 5.1.1
4 Core CPU
1 GB RAM
16 GB ROM

RK3368 PX5
Android 6.0.1
8 Core CPU
2 GB RAM
32 GB ROM

Very easy plug and play upgrade process, see here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8smMyEOMYU8&feature=youtu.be

More information about the upgrade:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...dasaita-hotaudio-android-6-0-1-ready-t3536790

I would buy this in a heart beat but I already have a Joying Intel 2gb...

I do have one of those, PX5, 4GB RAM + 32GB Flash with Android 6.
I bought it to upgrade my Android head unit which came with a PX3 2+16 CPU card. It turns out I like the launcher that came with my radio better...
The PX5 is a better product but to me, the differences are down to personal preference.

It might as well benefit somebody, it's doing me no good sitting in a drawer (still in the original bag)

Here is my review and comparison of the two boards:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android-auto/android-head-units/report-unit-px3-2gb-16gb-android-7-1-2-t3726311

Here is a picture:

I am in the US, price is $40 + shipping. UPS is $8.00.

If interested, email me at [email protected] for more info.

Update: the core board has been sold!

Thank you for the replay! Unfortunately the 40$ board is out of stock ... Not having the patience to wait for them to restock (if ever) and knowing that shipping from USA to Romania (where I live costs a small fortune) i ordered the 114$ WITSON Android 9.0 PX5 4G RAM +64GB Flash Coreboard For Android DVD gps unit from aliexpress. Hope I'll manage to install it and get it working. My 2Gb px3 is slow as hell and annoys the hell out of me every time I try to do something else than listen to music on it. Once I'll start the upgrade process (probably a month from now when it will get shipped) I'll post back the results!

My board is a Witson too, I paid $100 for it 2 years ago.
If it's anything like my unit, installation will be a breeze. Pop two screws and the SMA connector for the GPS to free the board and you are done. My unit had the DVD so that was another 4 or 6 screws just to get to the board but access is very good.

Good luck with the swap and getting your board. As far as I can tell, China's businesses are restarting so you should not have too much delay. I have printed circuit boards assembled for me and they were supposed to ship just before the Spring Festival (end of January). They missed the window and went on vacations, then the virus hit. The factory restarted slowly Ferbruary 17th and my boards will ship this week. Keeping my fingers crossed...

As a side note, the only annoyance with the MTCD and MTCE units is the Bluetooth with WiFi. If you are tethering the radio to your phone over WiFi and you get a call, which the Bluetooth radio will pick to route it through the car's speakers, the audio is choppy, not good. I believe it is because unlike on a phone, the Android head unit's Bluetooth is not directly handled by the main CPU. Since Bluetooth and 2.4GHz WiFi occupy the same frequency band, they have to use what's called "managed coexistance" https://www.lairdconnect.com/resources/white-papers/bluetooth-and-wi-fi-coexistence. This can only be managed when WiFi and Bluetooth are handled by the same processor. Since Bluetooth is handled by a separate chip (the MCU, so that the Bluetooth can wake the radio even if it's turned off), there is no easy way to manage coexistance.
I am going to try a 5.3GHz WiFi USB stick in the Android head unit since my phone can tether on that band too. That should eliminate the problem.

upgraded from px3 2g to px5 4g success

Today I finished upgrading my HU. It was a px3 2g mx2 device and it was laggy as hell so I had enough of it.
The process was relatively simple and without much hassle.
The board I used for upgrade is this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32814725689.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.4d0d4c4dyfZxK4
Steps taken:
- ordered the board, which came pretty fast via DHL. (5 days from China to Romania, including customs processing)
- updated the MCU from 2.75 to 3.41
- took out the HU from my SantaFe, disassembled it and took out the old board
- soldered the gps wire from the old board to the new board (it came with a really short wire)
- placed the new board firmly in place (had some troubles with the screws being to short, fixed that by using some longer screws)
- mounted the HU back on the car, everything started up ok, gps, bluetooth, wi-fi, sterring wheel contros, all work as they should, right out of the box.
- got rid of the annoying px3 lag :) The new board is an octa-core with 4g of ram and stock android 9. It runs as smooth as it should.
Today I started to install hal's v4 mod ... still working on setting things, but with no major problems. Happy customer here :))

Hey. I can't find any KBT 3.3 or any KBT at all in your links. Maybe i'm blind? :D

LE: Nevermind, i just checked the cross compatibility thread and KBT is listed there.
So, theoretically i could use any of the MCU's available from the list in the first post of the thread, right?
Do you recommend a certain one?

LE2: Just flashed MTCE_HA_V3.45.rar and it works great on KBT device.
I saved the mcu config file, but i have no ideea from where to flash it. Good thing i remembered all the settings :))

I have a 1GB quad-core RK3188 which originally had MTCD_HA_1.63c. I updated it with Hal9k_'s Nougat ROM 2.5 yesterday and came across this post. I'm sure I can install this PX5 4+64 but do I need to update anything (MCU) before I do?

Still thinking about it as the speed of my current system is already ok but in case I encounter lags or issues :).
