A friend gave me a (seemingly working - it vibrates when you press the power button) HTC G2, apart from the screen; the previous owner dropped the phone, left a crack diagonally down the screen, and it remains blank when powered on.

Anyway, I already have a G2 and a Nexus, and don't really have a use for it, so I wouldn't mind selling it, but if I can replace the screen and get it fully working I'm sure it would sell for more. Any idea how much a screen replacement for it should cost? I have quite a few cell phone repair shops in my area, but no idea if all of them charge a lot more than they should for it or something (and I can just go a little out of my way to save a lot or something).

not sure how much it would cost to have someone else fix your phone but parts are cheap and fairly easy to replace. if you have a g2 that's fully working you may want to use it to test what needs replaceing on the broken one. it sounds like you need a digitizer about $20 on ebay and then either a lcd or flex cable. lcd is about $25 and flex about $35. I would start out by swapping the lcd from the good to the bad and see if it lights up, if not you would have to buy the flex. there are video walk throughs on you tube how to do this
