It is so frustrating to reset every time when there is a update.

I did not reset at first, just updated and checked for a day with my normal day to day usage.
It had improved considerably, after this I just wanted to start from scratch, so I wiped everything.
Maybe you can try downloading the firmware using Frija if you have got no update.

UPDATE: It's been over a day since I charged the phone, still have 49% left.
Mostly phone call usage and youtube, otherwise the phone is just idling.

I also got the latest update ASE5.

For me, this didn't improve the batter life (they improved the dedicated camera night mode by a lot though! It's awesome now). I am also noticing significant battery drain while using mobile data. For example: 30 Minutes of browsing the web on mobile data drains 15-20%. And I am not even on 4G (since me data plan doesn't support 4G..which I don't care).

Could be that I have to wipe and factory reset again. But you know what? I won't go through all the hassle again just to make an OTA update work properly. It doesn't make sense to me. As I said earlier: I'd rather sell this phone and get another one.

I bought a galaxy s10e two months ago. After a few weeks I realised the battery wasn’t going to get any better - I exchanged the phone for a second one. My second one was no better, averaging about 3 hours of SOT during a normal day. This was mostly whilst using 3G or 4G connectivity during daylight hours at work.

This morning I gave it, after a brief stint of trying all the power saving tricks under the sun I sent the phone back. I now own an iPhone X and the battery seems great.

It's the Exynos modem guys.

It can't handle mobile data. It drains like crazy. It's laughable.

On wifi it's good.

Agree, and dont think Samsung will be able to fix with an update.

Nope. They won't. It's not fixable. It's just how the chipset works.

The chipset is inferior in almost any scenario. Especially with mobile data.

I am going to sell this thing. It's around 3-4 hours of SOT. Not doing anything demanding at all.

Disabling so much stuff and tweaking things just feels so wrong to me. I spend so much money on this. It has to leave!

So an update won't fix the battery life issue but it is possible to address the performance difference between the two chipsets with software?

The best battery life I could get from an S10 (973F). From S5 (a few years old phone) for the same usage I could get a week easily.

Look what happens with my battery after I turn on mobile data. I't THE WORST phone I've ever had when it comes to battery life. Factory reset did nothing and other tricks mentioned helped only a little bit. I'm seriously considering switching back to my V30.

I come from a v30 and i feel ya. Only intense usage got me 4h sot. Otherwise i had about 6hours constantly but overall had 20% left at bedtime. In idle, it was the best, same goes for AOD, it's way better and functionnal on lg. On s10, AOD doesn't turn off in the pocket with the proximity sensor!! And double tap to wake drains battery as well unlike on the lg v30

Should have got the s10 + instead. But hey, you already bought the p30 pro.
I did try the S10+ in between, still not good enough battery. P30 Pro almost 2 day battery from day 1, no "letting the system tweak" and other bs, just amazing out of the box. Too bad cause i really liked the S10 but the terrible battery killed the experience.

Switch tap to turn on aod. Or get aod notify app.

It is known that Huawei memory menagment is most agreesive on android these days. Don't know really. If I would choose between p30pro and some other phone except s10, that would be OP 7pro.
Edit: we just chatting, don't get me wrong p30pro is amongst the best phones these days.

Did anyone have any improvement in the battery by formatting the device at the factory and without performing the backup?

I'm always using mobile data since my data is unlimited and have really good coverage and own the exynos version in Puerto Rico and never had any issues with data and battery. But I am rooted don't know if it has something to do. I also remember when I wasn't rooted I had good battery life on stock rom but then an update came (don't remember which one) and battery got bad but from there I rooted and don't have does issues anymore.

I have mobile data always on and battery drain is very low in standby (S10e Exynos). About 2-3% drain over 14 hours. I haven't done anything special to my phone, no power saving modes or dark mode. I only disabled some pre-installed stuff like OneDrive, Office etc. and disabled Bixby. I don't understand this Exynos bashing, all games I play run great on max settings, battery life is OK for a device this small. You think other devices are perfect? Think again, because they aren't. Grass always appears to be greener on the other side of the fence...

A lot of people have issues including me, just because you don't doesn't mean others don't lol

This thing has significantly worse battery than both my previous phones, ascend p6 and iPhone 7plus, mobile data seems to be the problem as others have said, but without mobile data it's useless, at least it still trades in for 400, but I'm willing to take the hit and accept I spent the other 400 on my 'free' galaxy buds at this point

I tries that and it did not work.
I got the S10 a week ago and I cannot believe how bad the battery is! It's worsw than the last Samsung I owned (S3)!! I have charger phobia now and I need to have one around me all the time! In the last 5 years I never suffered this problem! Very disappointed!

Guys before saying that battery on the Exynos is horrible try to rule out the possibilities why this might be happening.

    1) You restored from a backup either smart switch or google back up

    2) Have you check which software version you have, there was a bug that did not allow the phone to enter into deep sleep. Please update to the latest firmware, there is a thread on XDA that shows you how to do so.

    3) You got the phone recently, you need to let the phone learn your usage pattern, first few cycles will be horrible.

    4) Do a clean factory reset and do not restore from a backup, install everything manually

    5) Do you have the facebook app install, well change it for either Facebook Slim or Facebook web.

    6) Use Adhell or adb commands to disable any app you do not need.

Because my S10 was in repair I switched back to my Huawei P10 with EMUI 9.1 for around 2 weeks.
I noticed a way better battery life from the first day. The phone is from March 2017 and was my daily driver for nearly exact 2 years until I've got my S10.
Now I'm back on my Samsung and, man, this sucks. The phone is great but the battery life ist just awful in comparison with a 2 years old device with a smaller battery (3200mAh instead of 3400mAh, not much but it's older).

I'm using the phone for browsing the web and 9gag, watch some videos and listen to music via BT two times a day when I'm in my car.

The P10 had around 40-60% drained when I'm getting home from work at 16:00 with my average usage. The S10 lost the same amount when I'm going to lunch at 12:00 and I need to charge it. Very annoying and disappointing, especially because Samsung didn't fix anything since release in March '19.

Resetting the phone after every software update? How stupid this is! Nobody should be doing this.

I'd rather sell this piece of sh**. If my battery doesn't get better after this latest update, I'll definitely sell this thing and go for OnePlus again. This damn thing costs a lot and it's struggling with the most essential thing for a smartphone, the battery. It's like driving a Ferrari with 50 kilometers maximum range. It's insanely stupid. Feels amateurish.

After doing a lot of research and testing and numerous resetting with the Exynos note 9 and the S10 plusI realised it's got nothing to with resetting. It is to do with the Exynos chip or the modem when connected to to a mobile network whether 3G or 4G it doesn't make a difference. It will definitely drain the battery. If your phone is connected to wifi, you will get a good battery life otherwise doesn't matter what you do it will drain. It's 100% to do with the mobile network and it comes under Android system and that's why you will always see high android system usage. This is only on the Exynos ones not in Snapdragon.

I have had 8 hrs screen on time recently and very happy, factory reset via recovery helped me and never looked back.
