Axon 10 Pro (Non-5G) EDL Tool - Flash / Backup / Restore/ Bootloader Unlock

Question on downgradability. I am on Version 2.9 and there is no upgrade and no downgrade update available from the ZTE website.
Can I just flash the Full EDL 1.6 on the phone without unlocking the bootloader?

Hey guys,

I got a little problem here. I probably made a biiig mistake. I followed all the instructions of this thread - but I did not follow all the steps mentioned here: https://www.getdroidtips.com/how-to-unlock-bootloader-on-zte-axon-10-pro/
So I came in the main menu of the EDL Tool an chose "4", actually before doing anything else (except making a backup first).

So, now I am in bootloop, only the zte sign in blue shows up for a second --> disappears --> shows up again and so on.

As you probably recognized right now, I am a bit nooby here, so please be kind But I would really appreciate your help here!

Edit 1: I forgot to mention that I can press vol + and vol - to get into fastboot mode I guess. But all the options lead to the same bootloop here. The EDL Tool does not recognize the phone.
Edit 2: I managed to get into edl mode. I tried to restore my backup I made at the beginning. But there is an error, that files are missing. I see a bunch of files in the folder though. I am willing to only restore my files and leave the rest as it was. So if anyone has an idea, please help.
I figured out that one main issue could be that I should have start from Android 9. I did start with 10.

Am I right that I first have to lock the bootloader to get away of bootloop? And maybe the backup will work after that? If yes, how can I do it?

Edit: Managed to flash EDL Full 1.6. Got Android 9 running right now, but still with bootloader unlocked. Which means I can not flash any stock android higher than 9, correct? So, should I lock the bootloader or should I root and flash LOS? Somebody reading this at all? :-D

Sorry I am a bit late, but yes, someday somebody reads this. Have you had any more progress?

I NEVER played around with lingeage OS and the other guy with whom I managed to root my deviced tried it, but didn't seem to have much luck with it either.
Generally, apart from security reasons and your phone taking 5s longer to boot I see no reason why you should re-lock your boot loader after you have once unlocked it.
Why "root and flash"? As far as I understand, rooting only applys for a given OS so if you install another OS your previous root is irrelevant.

TLDR: I learned toying around with Android roms is a HUGE pain in the ass.

it has been nearly 1 year since I last did anything like this. I wanted to write an manual once, but I sadly lost the file, and I don't rember much anymore.

TLDR: I cannot help you much, sorry.

That being said: I am 90% sure the tool does NOT work on any other phone than Axon 10 Pro 4g. It didn't even work on the 5g version of this exact phone, i think. Such tools are very speciallised, and used very neat tricks and maybe little vurnarabilities to unlock the bootloader, something the manufactorer doesn't want you to do. The manufactorer usually puts a lot of security measures in your way to prevent you (or hackers) from gaining root acces

I do remember it was a BIG pain in the ass to get root working on my axon 10 Pro. I nearly destroyed the entire phone 3 times (not kidding)! Definitely never try to root your main phone, you might very well loose all your data! This is not a beginners job, at least not for the brand axon.

If you can, I would advise you to buy a different brand, there rooting is well documented. Just not enought people in english speaking countries have an axon 10 (and maybe axon 30) for there to be good documentation. There are some brands were rooting is rather straight forward, but I dont rember which plus it changes so just google it.
