FYI . i work for tmobile and have talked to our lg rep and the LG National Training rep (people who work for LG not for tmobile) for a bit and according to them, the DAC will not be available in the US. it is not even compatible with the US version.( as mentioned previously in this thread ) they said they hadnt heard of any plans to bring it to the US version. you will however be able to walk into a store and get the 360 cam, VR or Cam+ Module
What, really? I better be able to return this then lol.

Is it the same thing for Canadian versions?

So Jason Statham gets to use the DAC in the US commercial that's played constantly but it won't actually be released in the US? What kind of sh*t is that LG?!

What??? I highly doubt it though. US is a big market and they are not bringing hifi plus only? But will bring other gadgets? I dont understand why it is not compatible anyway in the first place. That means they did not have a plan to bring to us from the beginning? Hifi plus was the only reason i am trying lg g5 lol. Otherwise i have no reason to keep this phone when i can just get v10.

Makes not one iota of sense that it wouldn't work. Plug it in, same pin connection. What's stopping it from working? You're not fiddling with radios here, why? Inquiring minds want to know.
Buddy, you can always resell it to someone who likes importing phones (for whatever weird reason they would have for doing so). Should test it anyhow.

Went in to carphone warehouse and they've said it'll probably be after the 11th when they should get the phone. EE have the phone in stock but they're not sure if they're going to sell the modules, depends on how the phone sell.

Had the below email back from LG UK

I am sorry to inform you that as of yet we currently do not have a release date for this module as it is being produced by B&O. I have found a website that is doing pre-orders for this module and it can be found here <http://laptopoutlet.co.uk/lgfriends/main/lg-hi-fi-plus-with-b-o-play-afd-1200.html/>.
Alternatively you can contact B&O through the contact section on there website. Below is a link to the contact us sales team for B&O. <http://www.bang-olufsen.com/en/the-company/contact/distributors>.
Should you need any more assistance, you can reply to this email by clicking the additional questions link above the survey.
I hope you are happy with the service I have personally provided, if you are, please take the time to fill out a short survey at the bottom of this email. It is based solely on my efforts for you. I appreciate all feedback given!

Thank you in advance.
Kind regards

At least this LG rep knows what is going on. Anyone has more information for US release? Like someone mentioned above, I can't imagine none of the tech sites picked this up yet, the fact that LG has no plan for US release? If LG rep speaks freely in Tmobile stores, I am sure words should get out quickly but I am seeing no news about it.

Now I'm going to keep this phone regardless of the digital to analog converter being available or not however I must admit that it is definitely something that I strongly considered as a factor to buy this phone as well as the other features. I consider myself an audiophile, and love many types of music in their purest and most dynamic forms. Having a 32-bit digital to analog converter would be a nice addition to my list of preferred gadgets. I think we should go HAM and create a petition on change.org LOL

Knew I had seen this in a review somewhere... Just had to find it.

From Android Authority's LG G5 Review:

"Before you get too excited about the Hi-Fi DAC though, it’s not going to work with G5 smartphones sold in Korea, Canada, Puerto Rico or the USA; LG declined to comment on why it won’t work with these devices (and why listings were pulled in the US), but it’s worth keeping this in mind if you planned to buy the G5 in one of these markets and wanted to buy the Hi-Fi Plus."

Another part from a separate Android Police Review:

"By the way, it sounds like unless one of the US carriers decided to actually stock the B&O attachment, it won't come to America at all. LG's current version of the dongle is not FCC certified and US phones *refuse to boot* when it is inserted, so don't go importing one and thinking it'll work."

It is available on Amazon directly from LG Korea, and on eBay from several different Korean vendors for about the same cost give or take $10.

That is BS seriously. Lol that leaves only EU and china for the major market. Such a let down by LG.

OK so I just watch the mobile geeks un boxing and they have a t-mobile version of the phone and he put the dac in and it's boots perfectly. So it seems it does work with the USA lg g5.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QErjREHabI
I watched the video very closely multiple times but that phone may not be the T-mobile version. I think it was that pre-production model he had prior to unboxing because starting animation when he put that hifi plus module is different than mine (I have T-Mobile version), but not 100% sure, because he flipped the phone for like 5 seconds at the end right before around the time T-Mobile logo should be on. But the animation in starting is awfully slow compared to mine. Mine doesn't stay that long on LG logo, but it moves to T-Mobile animation quickly. I am really hoping it was T-Mobile Version, but there is a room for more confirmation imo to be honest. Although that Hifi Plus model # is AFD-1200, not the korean version, but the version that Clove.uk is selling. Korean version that LG sells in Korea is AFD-1210.

I wish so much I had my lg g5 to test the hifi unit already but I still have to wait a month tell B&H ships it out. Yeah I could see that we needed more conformation because he also did another unboxing in German.

Just ordered one from Amazon uk, estimated delivery by the 14th. Searched for lg g5 friends hi-fi plus with b&o play and it comes up with 3 results on Amazon.com and 1 on Amazon.co.uk

OK I've changed my mind, gonna wait and see if it comes out next week, save £20-30

I already bought and paid for it from MobileFun. I'll wait and see if it works, if it doesn't I really hope I can return it.
