Wow. its amazing, that you can continue to think this was some big hoax pulled of by Jake..really? we aren't the government. we dont need to cover anything up, as the picture was part of the faker/troll..
reading comprehension has gone out the window.
you would trash a known and proven developer over something that 90% of you couldnt apply anyways, since its still in raw form, and unfinished at that?

and what if he has a root method ready tomorrow, and 10 people trash their phones, who are you gonna blame?
exactly. theres a reason this stuff stays between devs at first. to make sure you dont have to to try to explain to a verizon rep why superuser app is stuck on your phone in a bootloop.

grow up, act like real adults around here. the entire community needs to stop with this prepubescent crybaby crap. no one owes you anything. if you think hes taking too long, then do it yourself.

plenty of people are trying to root it, and no one is successful. yet.
a lot more people dont have the first clue how to begin to root a phone, but are throwing stones because they are A: not wise enough to do this B: too impatient to wait for a proven, and tested method and
C: unable to fathom the complexity of this, and think it is something you can achieve in a few hours.

i assure you, that is not the case. those of you that think the fact that the evo was rooted before it was released has any relevance seem to lack in your understanding of the differences between every single phone.

stop the whining, the bashing, the crying, the hatred, and give the devs some breathing room, stop making them answer for misinterpreted messages from their friends, and start appreciating, or learn to do it yourself.

no one wants to do something for people that arent going to appreciate it. a portion of the community thinks they can demand something. you aren't anyones boss, so stop acting like it, unless your going to start paying for it, then you can make deadlines, and expect production.

IN short, everyone needs to grow up, and stop being negative. it was old two years ago, its time for the community to start working together.

if half the effort to flame Jake went into rooting the incredible, we'd have custom roms by now.

Amen to that, all of it. EVERYONE JUST STOP! I think mods need to lock down the entire DI Android Development part until we get root. Prevents problems and attacks, and banning if it starts.

It'll prevent the community from getting into fights. Or at least stop comments for a few days so everyone can cool down because it's gotten out of hand. Mods look into this.. We really should do this...

Since nobody wants to talk about it here apparently (I thought this was a forum after all, we should at least have one "real and fake jake are making me mad" thread).

Everyone should direct their aggression towards Jake's website/blog and post comments there. While you are there, PLEASE ask him why he took all day to explain that he didn't post the picture, and why he supposedly led Acidbath to believe he had root earlier today. I also want to ask him if he received any donations via his blogsite between the time the picture was posted, and when he finally stated he didn't do it??

Dude, quit it... What f'ing difference does it make on why it 'took all day'.

My hats off to Jake if he roots it or not. I have no way of proving he or anyone else is actually working on it, nor do I demand proof of them working on it in order for me to hope that he or someone else manages to accomplish it.

Haha @ the title of this thread....like being a co founder of the amazingly horrible site alldroid makes you any more credible then a drunk bum on the corner. That site has single handedly f**** up Android development communities more then anything else.

I'm new to this forum since I'm waiting for my Incredible. I've been with Android since before the first pre-sale G1s came out, joined XDA shortly after I get my G1, and it's amazing how the level of decorum has declined since then and the pitch of crybabyness around here has increased. The most annoying aspect of the modding community is the secret (who probably is known to know nothing to most) n00b who contributes nothing to modding and development, but pokes fun and acts like an internet toughguy because someone failed to produce a mod on the schedule he expected, or worse yet, reported information unclearly/inaccurately on a free site about a free mod on an open source mobile operating system. The reason why people like Cyanogen don't frequent this and other modding sites and stick to Twitter or his own site is that it's demoralizing and distracting to work day and night on a platform trying to bring a level of customization to a platform that the Telcos working day and night to keep locked down, only to have some aged Sidekick convert tell you you suck because there is is a flaw in one of your builds which you provided to him and a million others for free, out of the goodness of your heart and love for the platform.

Keyboard cowboys are just as annoying and counterproductive as the n00b who asks what is root in the middle of a debug or brainstorm thread. Crying about posting/citing/clarity etiquette to a guy who's probably just sat at a linux terminal for 18 hours trying to find an exploit or reverse-engineer an SPL is about as useful as standing in the middle of the track at the Indy 500 and trying to give the guys doing 225mph tickets for improper lane usage.

These guys deserve our respect--unless YOU can do better.

Lead, follow, or get out of the way (i.e., shut the **** up).

$.02 deposited.

I am just putting this out here. I no nothing about rooting a phone, gold card, kernels or anything. i ride on others coat tails cause i don't know anything about androids. I don't post cause i don't know anything. But i read and listen as much as i can. It is sad that this Jake guy is being condemed. If he does know how to root why should he give it to us the way were treating him. I don't know if any of you had the omnia 910 but there is a thread on modaco about a guy named AzinTegra who wanted money for a leaked rom. He actually had it people donated, he gave it. but through the whole process he was flamed and criticized for being a liar. I mean i don't know jake but if he has it let him work on it with whom ever he's working on it with. If he doesn't then. All these great minds will get it. There is a saying that i live by. If man can make it somebody can break it.

This is romper room; If people weren't so gullible, and instead used their brains (if they exist)... it's clear there was no substantial proof.

Personally, I think the whole situation is a riot... and so should Jake.

Welcome to the internet kids.

I vote that all threads pertaining to this "event" be closed...
Bashing and re-hashing garbage does no-one any good.
And furthermore, if it were I that was working on a way to root this phone, I damn sure would be more hesitant now to keep people updated and in the loop as far as my progress...

Everyone STFU, and let's get back to the task at hand

Why all this talk of Jake, Jake, Jake? Isn't he just the front man for his buddy that's actually doing the work? Regardless, this entire fiasco is FUBAR.

Damn...

Go away for a week and see what happens. These are the types of shenanigans (not that place with stuff tacked on the walls, LOL) that caused me to drop 6 years of dev work in favor of less tumultuous realms. I have been floating around in lurk mode for about 15 years and have watched things go from intelligent, civil, and educated to what I would classify is scriptkiddie stupidity. These very things are things that give opensource development a blackeye let alone android development.

I was drawn back in by the prospect of doing something new involving mobile devices. I'm getting my incredible today, and while I know little of the ins and outs of Android I'm giving serious consideration to pulling up short and sitting on the sidelines until more mature and educated interaction is achieved. I hold little hope of this ever happening (I'm a glass is blemished let alone half-empty kinda guy). I would rather do a few more deployments with the military than deal with this crap.

I find it hilarious that anyone would determine whether they would support development of something based on a bunch of kids bickering on a website.

Gee, I'll punish everyone because a few people are fighting.

Very similar to the "I am gonna take my ball and go home" mentality.

This kind of stuff only gets to those who let it. Nobody forces people to read drama threads, nor contribute to them. Thats a conscious effort. Its just as easy to ignore the drama and work on what matters.

of relevance, to those seeking root ...

After actually reading all four pages, I am most reluctantly adding what I pray to be my only comments w/in this thread:
No typing of response(s) to my words is/are req'd, folks ...

1. Yes, I am painfully aware of the bitter frustrations that have fueled what remains thus far no more than reckless aspersions of guilt (and, the absence of any but the one who began this thread to presume innocence).
2. I concede that this ain't directly any of my business, and that I should &$*% and ?&*%# 'n such.
3. No, I have *not* gained root. <~ still too soon?

ir-rel-e-vant. One English word, w/ synonyms like immaterial, extraneous, impertinent, that centrally mean unrelated to the matter at hand; not pertinent to the subject under consideration.

In my neck of the woods? y'all quit kickin' around on that poor ol' dead horse, 'n get back to work.

One of the problems w/ computers, and the 'net in general, is that they allow us each to make errors/omissions with the greatest imaginable speed. Another, is that they can consume so much of our time that they most nearly substitute for a life.

Last words of advice, for any that may choose to listen: When you're so upset that your hands tremble as you begin to type? Don't.
