Verizon doesn't sell phones in China, so your China friends didn't root a Verizon Note 3.

So the answer is still...NO

It's possible that your friend's phone _looks_ like a Verizon Note 3, but is actually a clone instead, like this one:

If such is the case, then perhaps the clones can be rooted, but that is neither here nor there for us true N900V owners.

A quick web search got me a brief list of clones: http://grudgets.com/some-of-the-cheapest-samsung-galaxy-note-3-clone-reviewed/

I know that in china they don't cell verizon phones but they import them from the US as we do.The matter is that they can change the language to a language that it is not built in verizon phones as the imge below, by customizing the system.img and flashing it using super user privileges. So either they unlock the bootloader or root the device in somehow.

I think they use this command to flash the system file

>adb shell
>su
#Dd if=/sdcard/system.img of=/dev/block/mmcdlk0p16

Any one have an idea!!!!!

Believe me it's a Verizon Note 3 phone I check it myself.

I fear I already know the answer to this, but is there a way to stop the OTA update requests if you downgrade from 5.0 to 4.4.4? I have gone back to 4.4.4 several times because if I loose cell signal for a while, when I enter an area that has signal my phone wont pick it up until I either restart the phone or place it in airplane mode for a second. Most frustrating since I don't always realize when I have lost signal and am no longer a functional phone that people can call me on. But those non stop requests to update always get me after a while and I try again to get 5.0 to work. Since they aren't going to put out any more fixes to my phone, I cant see how I will ever be happy with lollipop now. If I could just get it back to 4.4.4 without all the requests to update it I would be happy. ( also I cant prove it but I think my gps reception is worse on lollipop than kit kat)

@ericdawson1971 I have the same issue, I get that annoying update request daily. My phone literally won't work with lollipop so I have no choice but to postpone the update every day. For some reason to which I am unaware I didn't get the update request for several months. But after you get it once, you're stuck with it like herpes.

I am using a note 5 now so my note 3 is now in kids mode all the time, which is always on top, theirfor I can never see that update request again on that phone.

Sorry man nothing you can do.

@maherwaleed I don't understand what you're looking for? This post is just telling you that you can go back to 4.4.4 from 5.0. Stock, non-rooted. The file to odin is at sammobile.

I just got this device and it had LP 5.0 already installed on it. In this case the phone has performed fluid, fast and bug free. In fact 10X better than any custom ROM I tried on my old S2. It's done well enough that not being able to root will not be a deal breaker. A 6.0 update may be coming next year also from what I read.

I'm now kind of wondering if LP has such an overall bad reputation on XDA because of the custom ROMs people are having bad experiences with rather than official releases. It's not the case here obviously, just talking on an overall basis. I know the ones I tried for my previous phone were wrought with bugs.

is root possible for 4.4.4 i have note 3 n900v verizon it cant be rooted on 5.0 :(

For anybody that wants to go back to 4.4.4 from 5.0 I can confirm it works great, I just flashed back with Odin. The 4.4.4 firmware is at sammobile right below the lollipop firmware. The 4.4.4 flash put it into a bootloop to which I then factory reset and it started up perfectly with none of the completely unusable issues I was having.

Bummed out that I can't use lollipop for the time being, but more than relieved that I have a usable phone again, I thought it was toast.Lollipop made my phone worthless, literally couldn't do anything, major bootloops and constant crashes.

I made another thread about it here

@Tusharc2 I'm afraid not. Those of us stuck on 4.4.4 or above cannot achieve root. Probably never will as this phone is 2 gens old now. Only hope is if somebody figures out something for a newer phone that also works for this one.

I left Verizon for this reason. Me, my family and extended family who get whatever phones and service I recommend. We're all on Sprint now. Easy rooting, faster data. Less service when I go out to the sticks is the only downside. Same price for 40 gb plan vs 6 gb with Verizon. 80mb speeds in my suburban town though apposed to Verizon's 30 both with full signal. Overall happy as can be. The difference in signal strength is negligible, no dropped calls or anything ever. Also Sprint supports wifi calling, Verizon chops it out of the phones. It's nice for people like my wife who work in a hospital, or other big building where the signal is poor inside, even with Verizon. Wifi is everywhere in there so she not only gets signal but her battery doesn't drain dramatically looking for signal.

Anyways, that's how I'm achieving root now, by saying *#@& you Verizon, hello Sprint.

5.0

Sure we are frustrated but I can attest that the LP 5.0 is the worst to come out so far. In my opinion it is too restrictive. The features that I use to use and love are gone from it. Instead of giving us the option to customize our own look and feel. I don't know if it's Google, Samsung or Verizon that caused this problem. Either way, it sucks.

I didn't own the device before it had LP on it, but I will admit I am really missing the ability to block ads especially right now with the loss of root. Also another thing I have found out that I am not happy with is the restrictions on the external SD card and no ability to have USB mass storage. I had to practically move all of my music and playlists to internal storage so I could have the ability to edit playlists or edit music tags again like I could before. I also had to switch back to Poweramp from Neutron because Neutron could no longer read 90% of my playlists due to path issues. So now I have very little room left on the internal SD card.

I'm not looking for any new ROMs but having the locked bootloader really does suck. I did not do enough research before I bought the phone, but that said, performance wise I am very pleased with the speed and battery life. I know I can't get the deal I had on a device with similar hardware so no way I'm sending it back. So bottom line may be no root for the next few years. As popular as this phone is it does kind of surprise me no one has come along that can get this figured out. Other carriers have backed down on bootloaders when people gripe enough, it just doesn't appear we have enough users to get it done.

Going back...

I have used Odin to take my phone back to NC6 and NK1 but it always gets stuck on the Verizon logo. Only when I put 5.0 back on does it go all the way through the cycle so it seems you can't revert back past LP 5.0

If so please tell me how.
